Question about Admin decision to kick due to "not stepping up to be a commander"
To whom it may concern,
This is not abuse so I will not post it there. I am just concerned because moments ago I was kicked from the Vanilla BF2 server. The reason given was "Both teams need commanders! Step up!" or something to that effect. It was only a 1 minute kick.
However, we had a commander: SaltSpring. I was on the US team in Squad 6 I believe, and I had been listening to him for quite awhile. When I rejoined I was switched to the MEC and I noted that the other team had a commander as well ((4)manno, who had been on since the beginning of the round).
I am just curious if I was kicked for some other reason and that was just some default message or incorrect message. If I was non-compliant with any TTP regulations while on a TTP server I want to make steps to correct that; but I must know where I was non-compliant in order to make any corrections.
Thank you in advance for your patience in this matter.

Even if Salt wasn't commanding on your team, why would it need to be YOU that "Steps up" and therefore are to be kicked for not doing so, and not the other 29 people on your team?
I imagine it was an accidental kick, or a kick for something legit, but s strange reason given. Cuz if the reason you were kicked WAS the real reason.. then this should be in the abuse forum, in my opinion.

shouldn't a reservist be the one expected to step it up and show how deserved they are for their power to have someone else kicked so they can play instead?
i see your point though

Reservists pay for that right, and as a result are expected to be held to a higher standard in upholding the rules of teamplay, true. However, being singled out and kicked for not taking the commander position (especially as there already WAS a commander)?
..and I'll bet there were plenty other reservists on as well, so the "reservist should be taking the commander position" argument really doesn't hold.
As I said, there's either a different reason for the kick, or it was accidental.

Re: Question about Admin decision to kick due to "not stepping up to be a commander"
If I were to guess from my experiance with cc on the HRD server it would be that the admin accidental used the kick option instead of the warn option, which I did to JB on the HRD server. Kicking him from the game instead of sending a message it was very easy to do, just one line lower on the pop up menu. It was probably supposed to be a generic message to the server and for the other team it was not targeting you Soy, your name was likely randomly selected and it was just bad luck an admins mouse hand slipped.

Probably a screw up. Too bad for you.

Soy it was an accidental kick. The admin meant to send out a warning and did it as a kick message instead. My apologies on behalf of that admin.
Locked.
