Squad Bug and Restarting the Server
I was banned (2 hr type) the other night for making a statement on the server about suggested actions for server administration. Specifically, one of the problems was that I had just joined and the server had the Squad Bug for one side and the Admin on duty decided to Restart the Server. I made a suggestion on the server and that was part of the Ban (basically I was told to let Admins run the server without comment).
Well, tonight, after being online for about 2 hours, the Squad Bug showed it's ugly head again. The first time it happened (around 1:05 am CST) the on duty Admin again decided to restart the server, taking TTP from a relatively full server to 13 v. 11 or 24 players (10 minutes into the round).
While I respect the Admins on TTP and feel that they always mean well, why not try other options to a cold restart such as restarting the round, advancing to the next map or simply playing through the bug for 1 round and see if the server corrects the problem.
Every time TTP restarts the server, people disconnect and must reconnect manually. In most cases, especially late at night, we lose several (if not most) players. I know we are about team play and without squads we have no team format, but without players, we have no teams and if it dwindles low enough, without enough players we don't have a round to play.
I am not calling out any Admins or trying to question their Authority. Just want to see if other options can be employed to solve problems without a restart of the server.

SQUAD BUG!
SQUAD BUG!
"Why Do you mock me O GODS of WAR!" My Ammo is clean and packed tight... My Gun is well oiled and Dry! My Knife Sharp! My wit's are even about me! Please O Gods of War?!! Why the Squad bug....?"
Easy answer. EA hates you. So does God.. get a helmet and frag on private.
I would personally pay for a brand new game with no other changes than not having to watch all my squaddy's mates or others be in the game winning squad. However, we can go to mars, we can go go to hell. But the squad bug still makes us wiat for the next round.
Resseting a round to get one person into the squad of their choice will piss 63 other people off every time.
Dont on the Admin. Hate on the company that owns the original Dev's.

Re: Squad Bug and Restarting the Server
A few times the squad bug has been a good thing. When the teams are "stacked" a reset will fix that a little plus it flushed the non-teamplayers. Most who are not TTP'ers just connect to a different server.
While it's not fun loading back in, I always come back unless I was about to get off anyways.
A while back we played a whole round with the bug. It's strange not being able to talk and relay info.

Re: Squad Bug and Restarting the Server
I played for nearly 12 hours yeaterday, and didn't encounter the Squad bug Once.....
I think that when after players are switched to the other team, they go into the Squad menu too quickly.... sometimes you've got to wait a second or two for the server to actually finish changing sides. If you join or attempt to join a squad before the server is done switching, then you will encounter the Squd bug. If you be patient and let the server FULLY switch (you will hear the sound), then join a squad, you will not encounter the Squad bug.
My experience as of lately, is that the Squad bug affect individuals, not the server as a whole (unless everone joined Squads before the server was fully switched).
