Actually, for the way you got me, pilum or default rockets are the way to go- I nail a lot of gunships coming straight in with the default rockets because they don't have the long lock-on delay, and it's a one-shot kill. Too often when I'm running with the SAAW I'll get that first missile off and be dead before it hits. The SAAW wins when they don't see you, though.

Next time that happens, just no scope them. No lock on tone and they die so quickly.

I love shoot down gunships with a tank (especially the Neko). Just turn to face them - sheilds up - let them fire off ineffective salvo first while their shields are up as well and the swivel/pan around and shoot them in ass off a ways in the distance as they try and circle for another run... I love seeing the turn into a fiery inferno way down the line hehe.

shooting gunships and transports in a tank is so fun

but the thing i hate about flying are the stupid indestructible light poles especially when your flying low and you got the shot all lined up to take out an apc/tank and then BAM you hit the pole :5

I belive I've been killed more by light poles than by saaw. They pop up out of nowhere at the last second. Too bad the map itself doesn't get kill points, I'd really be helping it out.
