    Re: LuckyDucky=fail

Today this happened... The map was cerbere landing A and B squads were both 6/6 so I decided to try this thing you call squad "leading". Things started of slow with nobody joining my squad, but that is expected as it was my 1st time leading. 1 or 2 joined, asked for orders, so I gave the "attack" order on a flag (don't remember which) and hoped they would follow,I'm not sure whether they did or not because I had no clue were they were, and I wasn't able to get to the flag myself from massed enemies putting breathing holes in my forehead.

The commander for reasons unknown gives the order to attack the same flag that I already have the order to attack on, I accept the order even though it makes no difference. More people joined my squad, one of them was Redeye and my squad had by then 5 or maybe 6 people, the commander then makes another strange order to move to a spot.... the spot was not a flag or held any importance (that I know of, I could be wrong) so I accept the order and move towards the spot with my squad (which was now finally staying WITH me). We get to the spot and I get my head ventilated by a bullet (again). As I try to make my way back to my squad (while under fire) redeye asks through his mic "Why I wanted the squad to move there?" I typed up a responce "It is the commander's order." But I guess it was missed (understandable as it is hard to pay attention to the battle and chat, and it scrolls by quickly).

Then... commander issues another order..... to move to the same flag which I 1st placed order to attack on....I stare at the order....accept it and get my head ventilated by another happy bullet. Redeye decides my squad fails (I personally agree) and leaves to join another, 2 others decided to leave too, and for the rest of the game my squad stayed from 4-5 people (many leaving and many joining) so nobody stayed long but they were replaced by others quickly...the commander continues to give me strange orders which I accepted but eventually decided to full out ignore (yes I know that is not teamplay, now that I look back on it I shouldn't have done that and I am ashamed but what is done is done I cannot change the past). The game ended with us loosing.

I stuck around for the 2nd round of the map but stayed as member and do what I usually do(follow orders and don't ask questions), we had a new commander, and we won.

Perhaps it was my poor squad leading or perhaps it was the commander who was new(I didn't recognize his name so I assume he was new)....but I believe it was my poor squad leading that made this a horrible experience and may have very well lost our team the game...sorry everyone who was in my squad and sorry to the entire team, and sorry to the commander who I ignored(I'm not sure he visits the forums so he most likely will not see this). If it helps in any way....you need not worry....I will stay away from squad leading.

If you didn't bother reading all of that here is the short version: My 1st time squad leading ended with a great big FAIL for me and my team.(Try not to fall out of your chair from laughing to hard at me)

Actually.... though it wasn't me.... I give move orders all the time, especially on maps like Cerebre and Tunis. If I give you a move order, I want you to plug a hole at that spot. its probably a choke point and I want you to lock it down so the red team can't come through there. I also assign other squads to choke points as well.

You do your point, you keep them bottled up, I'm stead dropping orbitals on them since they can't get by your defenses and they have a nice group of red. My UAV is more effective since the red team is now trying to recreate their very own D-Day and are all stacked up trying to get ON the beach.

Keep squad leading. Don't judge it by the first time through. Trust me, it'll make you better and before you know it, it will be YOUR squads filling up in less than 2 seconds after creation.

Work with the commander, we had a Brig General tonight who didn't know how to lead a squad. Another one who didn't know what the various items on the command screen were. We're all new at one point, but we sure can make each other better.

Now what you could have done to make sucess:
Go to the general location of the flag lay your newly unlock beacon on the ground given your squad a not constantly dieing ( ) spawn point.

Also some commanders like to do the roll over order while yours is up, also this gives your squad more order behind it since it was issued twice it came from the commander. Another thing you need to get used to is moving quickly and be ready for any order/thing at any time.

In this game chat scrolls by fast which makes having/useing a mic paramount but not required.

    Re: LuckyDucky=fail

    Lucky,

Just so you know, I only questioned that order because it was suicidal.

Sometimes orders aren't always the greatest, and you have to be able to recognize that. There is a fine line between being a great soldier and unquestioning obedience

That spot on cerbere is commanded by high ground on 3 sides. We were getting lit up, big time, and no way to get out of it other than to go back to our base and start over, or die.

Plus, there were no enemy troops there, I verified it with my sonar many times.

So that is the only reason I questioned the order.

Also, so you know, I didn't leave your squad and take |TG| with me because of YOU.

NOBODY else in your squad was talking either. It was just me, him, and 4 people unable to communicate. Some guy from Doorman is God =DiG= said one or two words but that was really it, no squad cohesion at all.

It wasn't personal, but we were getting our asses handed to us, and what we were doing was not effective.

I saw another 5th join the server and start a squad, I hopped down there with Shane because we really needed some communication to alleviate the frustration.

It was not a personal vendetta against you.

I saw you trying to communicate, but it just wasn't working, and since you wouldn't use your mic, you didn't have any way of trying to figure out exactly why that commander kept telling us to move behind that building.

Lucky this was the perfect situation to use your mic. Red would have understood why your orders were in that spot right away instead of trying to read the chat.
