2142. Is it worth it?

Hi Gents,

I have installed 2142 and licked my lips in anticipation. Typed in Texas in the search facility....And it gave me the choice of one server to join with one person on....This was about 19:00 hrs. So I gave a try on another server....Mmmmm. No fun.

It is now 20:45 and there is 4 on one server and 12 on another. Has this game died a death?. Is it usuall to have near empty servers on A Saturday

I did not like the experience on a non team playing server....Most of all because I am learning the ropes. Hope it gets better

As of this post there are 5 on conquest and 20 on titan. Periodically (thanks to EA and it's sloppy work) there are server crashes which tend to clear out the servers and they have to be re-primed. They should be up again (Baring another crash/reset) pretty soon.

Very rare to see both TTP 2142 servers below 20 during prime time. Crashes will do it, and the transition to a NS map. Sometimes one hopping, and the other just getting rolling, but as a newb the one "just getting rolling" likely gives you more time to get "in any round" requirements in as your building badges.

I'm out of town until later next week, but once I get back in town if you squad up with me and let me know you're shooting for this badge or that I'm happy to help as long as it's legit. I'll take you up in the gunship, or watch your back while your getting kills, or whatever. Since I don't need points anymore I settle for a little vicarious thrill from helping someone else get a badge or whatever.

Well damn, Rottn.. that's handy to know...

Yeah, millwall, sometimes going on the server to help prime it can be a good way to check out the map and pracice flying and that kinda thing.. or if on titan, it's a good time to familiarize yourself with the titan's layout and such.

Just drop a post in the "Priming a server" thread so regulars around here know you're headed in (and what server you're headed in on) and someone will be around that can show you the ropes.

The one thing I noticed was 5 kits right?.....I started off with scout kit. NO GRENADES!!. Then assault. This is how to play medi??. Wow I am Confused.

The other thing is walker. Every one was by passing the thing. I could not work out what kit I could use to combat it.....That of course if I can yet.

WOW, I am well and truly confused.

One thing for certain. This server is team play and when the going gets tough.......The players rally to the call......Thank you gentlemen for your help.

RottnJP and walkerxes would love to squad with you. Thanks again.

Ohhh. One more thing. I hope the 2142 guys do not mind my humour in there forum.

there are 4 kits with 2 different upgrade trees each. There is also a squad leader upgrade tree and a general 1. The nades are in the general one. The general upgrades are used in every kit.
