Re: Most Dangerous Job In Texas
SERIOUS?!? They are crazy with football down here! I've been in Texas for about 3 years and I am still flabbergasted. People park their 1st car close to the high school stadium right after school, then drive the 2nd car as close as they can get to the stadium at game time, use their season ticket (every game is sold out) then drive 1st car to pick up the 2nd.
AND the head coaches are the highest paid public position in a lot of these towns. One guy All he does is coach football (w/ 27 assistant coaches) oh and he is the athletic admin for football (and only football) and the guy still make 6 figures. WTF?
I think you're crazy for officiating football in Texas. I hope it pays well.
Actually I appreciate the fact that you take the time to officiate any public school sport.

Give em a red card...oh, that type of football. Wear cleats, they make excellent defensive weapons. If a parent tackles you, do the bunny hop. Basically, while they're around your ankles (since let's face it they probably don't know jack about tackling), go into push up position, then shift your weight to your arms, contract your legs, and then kick out hitting them in the face and shoulders. The tackler will let go soon. That move might be illegal though. I learned it playing full contact camo CTF at camp where it is a legal move for the men. The board of directors (headed by a woman nicknamed the Red Dragon as in the biblical reference) generally views women as weak and easily injured so they don't get to do that or play soccer with the men...mmmmm...sexism.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

This is Texas. You just have to understand the type of football that we want. BRUTAL!! Let the young folks have at it. Let them get it all out while they still heal well.
The thing is that we don't want calls especially ambigious ones like holding on offense or defense. There shouldn't be 5 yard facemasks. If it wasn't a 15, it wasn't nothing. Stuff like those calls always get people fired up.
Remember if you are going to miss calls, miss them for the side with the tougher looking fans.
Congrats on the stars.
