X-FI Titanium and other card problem fix

I have had several weeks of problems with my brand new (oh so highly rated) X-Fi Titanium card. I got great Dolby sound out the optical out and my tunes sounded great. HOWEVER when I went to play BF2142 my mic barely worked sounded crackly etc. I re-did everything. Checked all my connections, reinstalled etc and blah blah blah. Long story short what I found was that my awesome cool Motherboard has its own sound on the board like many do and I needed to disable the mother board sound option in the computer BIOS. It took about two minutes and I had total clarity and volume in my soundcard. If you have this or any other problem with Creative Tech cards PM me and I will give you me best advice. I have had a good amount of experience with many Soundblaster cards. FYI You should NOT mess with the BIOS without reading the manual for your motherboard. They are all different.

The X-Fi Titanium IS a great card for sound FYI. It is supported by BF2142 and It can actually improve your frame rate 9a little). It is also nice to hear the man with the knife coming up behind you. I thank him for not tea baggin me and give him my tags OUCH

I had an issue with the x-FI's, ultra high sound quality and orbital strikes. It would blue screen me. If this happens to you, drop the sound quality in the game, BF2142.

Do you have the pci-express version? They finally added dolby live to it so you can use full surround in games over your normal surround sound amplifier.

I have X-fi PCI. I get a crackly sound at the final titan explosion, although my audio settings are set to Xhigh.

Re: X-FI Titanium and other card problem fix

This may be an in game issue. At work I had to reinstall 2142, and whre as before I had no sound problems, now I have a crackle that gets so bad it causes game lag even when my ping is at 24 and my graphics set on low.

    AND...

I just bought a new hard drive at home, installed 2142 on it, same shit, crackle/lag.

So it makes me wonder if there is some weird POS cernel or something in the patch file that causes this.

I know, no real help for fixing your problem, but I am looking ofr a different patch than the one i used and will get back to you to see if it worked.

I'd recommend turning your settings UP, not down. In my experience, if you have a pretty nice system, turning the graphics down will cause games to run worse. Here is a great example: I recently built a gaming system for my brother. About the only game he plays is WW2OL. When I got the PC to his house and went to log him in game it wouldn't start. The game would ACT like it was going to start then shut down. I went into settings and turned UP the resolution from 800x600 to the 1200something one and the game started fine.

Same thing goes for my system, if I turn the settings all the way down in 2142, it runs like crap. If I turn everything on max, it's smooth as silk (On a nVidia 260GTX).

Cybs i think that is just limited to resolutions, some cards are made to run better on higher resolutions. Not sure other settings are the same.

Re: X-FI Titanium and other card problem fix

Hey my Brothers and Sisters in Arms,
As far as the crackling goes make sure you didn't have an on-board audio system on your Motherboard. Almost all mid to hi end MB's do. Even if you don't install a card given to you its there in BIOS. Go in BIOS and disable this then reinstall board or just try it. This IS what caused crackling and static for me. It took me way too long to figure it out. Now I have no static.
This thing (X-Fi PCI Express Titanium) IS sweet as well for Dolby out music and game. Also go to your audio panel in BF2142. Try to enable x-fi in audio panel. If it doesn't work you know you have an issue. Again just my 2 cents. PM me I will help if I can. I have had many cards razer, soundblaster etc.

Also FYI Razer is coming out with what is supposed to be awesome USB g=headset soon.
