Re: For the Love of God and Your Team
I'm like Kel with the boats. To the point I refuse to get in one on any map unless my team controls all air assets...
As for Wake (prime time with certain regs as SL is the exception), few flags are defended much at all. People spawn in at north and south and pull armor and cars and schlep their heavy sniper rifles out to the very tips of the island, and refuse to return even when the flag behind them goes neutral. Beach and the other north flag are virtually never defended. And the Airfield defence is left to the people waiting for jets, helos or the tank to spawn.
A jet bail on Airfield with a half decent squad is successful more times than not (outside of prime time) and wins the game in the first 20 seconds. Many times, the jet bail gets a squad to Airfield before the enemy commander has been able to get a squad to commit to defence of the flag. I will never understand it, but that is the way it is. So Airfield at the beginning of the round is definitely where you should be if you are serious about winning as USMC on Wake. Also, you can make a pass with the jet, and if Airfield is too crowded, you can go get Beach instead.
Also, the Airfield flag is so fast, sometimes the defenders do not know you are there until the flag turns neutral, and then it is a little late to do anything about it.
In my experience, capping the Airfield early is the only way to consistently win on Wake. Sure, sometimes you just push the Chinese back, but usually you end up deep in the hole (ticketwise) doing that, and when you finally march into Airfield it is too late to turn it around.
So let bailing SL have the jets. Let bailing SL have the Blackhawk. Let bailing SL have the boats. Hell it should be a bannable offence to spawn in on hte carrier in the first 30 seconds or so if you are not a SL and going for a flag. For when the One Great Scorer comes, to write against your name, he writes not that you won or lost, but how you played the Game

Re: For the Love of God and Your Team
On wake the trick with boats (on first spawn and first spawn only) is heading straight for north and get on land. Do not wait to pick anyone up, get in the boat and go. Mec jets can't get over there in time to take you out while in the boat. Once on land .... thats a different story.
(Yes I know people are going to start complaining about boating off solo. Time is of the essence, if you don't leave right away, you are fish food.... so get over it. Besides if you are a SL your boat should be full long before you hit land anyway. Speaking of which the SL only spawn approach should apply for the island as well. 2 Squad Leaders + 2 boats = 12 people running around on the north side of Wake.)
