EA master server connection

I was playing today and me thinks it just wasent me but people were dropping like flies on the server, i got booted 3 times within 20 min with the dreaded "your link to the master server has been lost" arghhhhhhhh

Seriously, why is a connection to the EA Master Server necessary. . . I understand logging in to connect with your soldier, but why the persistent connection?

ive been having the same problem with NHL09 on 360, so it appears to be a problem across the board.

You know what?! It just came to me that any time I seem to have an 'EA Master Server' connection problem I am kicking some major butt. Though, whenever I am getting murdered left and right my connection is great...
