Re: Please explain to me how a using a sniper kit is not teamwork?
WRT the OP,
I think too many people have spent far too long with their precious SF unlocks to remember that the sniper (the MEC/PLA, anyway) comes with a lovely 10-round, high-damage pinpoint-accurate rifle.
Squad leader, hanging back just a bit to be a better spawn point, putting bullets into anything and everything. And screw the headshot; I can put 3 rounds into someone center-mass before they even think about reacting. Pop-pop-pop and you're looking for a new line of work (or a chopper :P ).
They can piss and whine with their little G36E's all day thinking they own the midrange, right before their frontal lobe turns into so much Jello. Close-in, get friendly with Mr. Pistol, or Señor Hand Grenade. On defense, make the clays as conspicuous as possible, use them as deterrents. I guarantee that one soldier trying to sneak around while his squad heads up the middle isn't going to go near it without a medic (and even then, maybe not; no need to give the sniper the kill). Even if a whole squad rolls up through there, it's guaranteed early warning of their advance when the clay goes off.
The bolt-actions are pretty crap because of their long cycle times and necessity for the headshot. The semi-autos turn the sniper into a very dangerous anti-infantry kit.

I don't know if any of you have noticed, but the jets, armor, and attack helis spawn at Intake on Kubra, and at Airfield on Wake. TV on Sharqui has a flying thing also, plus a tank. These are what you might call "important flags".
I don't know if my finger gestures are coming across with the " " but I'm being sarcastic, for you literalists out there.

If you are only trying to get as many kills as possible and are not concerned with the team effort, then yeah, it is NOT a teamwork kit. If you are using it as a SUPPORTING role, then yeah, it IS a teamwork kit. Essentially, there are two main kits for glory seekers, and the rest are SUPPORTING kits. Assault and Support (irregardless of the kit name) are actually the two main kits for assaulting, while all the other kits were DESIGNED to support those kits. The idea being that Assault and Support have the heaviest armor ratings and can take more punishment from near misses, while medics heal/revive, engineers repair/mine, anti-tank keeps armor focused on them until they die (either the armor or the AT'er), specops provides supporting fire/sneaks around blowing stuff up and snipers mine/eliminate problematic enemies that are otherwise harder to take out (to include countersniping).

I don't know how it is on BF2 but on 2142 the sniper kit is EXTREMELY useful to the team...well mostly to the squad, but by helping the squad you're helping the team :9. When I play as recon (sniper) I stay mobile, spot everything I see, call out verbally everything I see, and become a real pain in the ass to the enemy. One shot from the rifle brings them down to 10 health. After that, pistol. Even assigned my secondary weapon to a different button so I can switch faster. I've pinned down entire squads for more than five minutes. And yes they kept reviving eachother, but thats one less squad attacking or defending a flag and killing my team mates.
Sniper. Useful. But Bravo is right, you have to know when to switch kits, or just grab someone elses
