I dunno if it's just me or not...
But I believe the key to winning the game is to use teamwork to cap a flag as a squad, and then to KEEP that flag and not let the enemy have it...thus making their tickets count down faster as they die trying to take your flag. When all squads on a team do this, it puts a lot of pressure on the other team.
I just got done playing 4-5 rounds a few minutes ago, and I'm more frustrated than when I started...I logged on to blow off some steam after a crappy week. All I saw was an entire team running around, capping flags, then running off to another flag with 1-2 enemy squads bearing down on the flag that was just captured...and losing that same flag 20 seconds later. I was just a squadleader on Dragon Valley. We kept our Security flag for at least half the round, and did nothing but defend it...getting bombed endlessly, attacked by choppers, APC's, tanks, etc...we didn't give it up for 150 tickets. In that time, not one other flag on the map was captured by any other squad. What exactly was everyone else doing to not capture even one other flag? I don't get it.
I don't know if people don't understand the game or what. But it's pretty simple. Capture the flag, defend the flag. Only when you've kept the flag and made the enemy's tickets decrease faster than yours do you proceed to the next objective because you have the advantage. The objective of the game is NOT to just cap the flag, then leave...there's no point. You might as well be playing some other FPS on deathmatch.
Now I will admit that there is some nuance and tactic involved in capturing certain flags and successfully defending/keeping them, but that is the objective. If you just cap, then leave, you've done nothing.
Bah...

Many times it is a commander who thinks that capping all flags without defending some is possible. I love to stay and defend flags, but if a commander gives me an order, and he doesn't agree no matter how right I am, I have to follow the orders and watch our hard work go away.

No misunderstanding. I just picked up on a melancholy tone in your comment. You know, that sheer dissapointment of getting an order that you KNOW will lead to disaster for the team. I was just saying that guys like you have options in most cases. But it looks like i was preaching to the choir.

First, I've found that blowing of steam here can lead to some of my worst matches ever, I expect to much and don't focus enough to get shit done right.
Second, the other team was probly packing some dam good pilots and a commander that let his team know any enemy movments on a flag. It can be shitty to get steam rolled but to does happen now and again. The wet lands sees this alot. You get a squad leader to a jet who then races out to central. Key flag to have but I've seen a few time where the Migs just pound the shit of it and when they miss a strick the artty come down. The other team gets a few fast movers going and grabe the western flags. Man are you in the shit when your only flag is dead smack in the middle of the map.
My praise for being able to hold an outpost against constant assualt.Dispatch the DooM

We all have the "what the hell is the rest of our team doing?!" type of days. Makes it important to just take solace in the things your squad do accomplish, and work as hard as you can to support your team.
Also, if your team is acting like a bunch of headless chickens, try commanding a bit, give out those defend orders and show 'em the light. And if squadleaders do not follow your orders, call for an admin. TTP bans for not following orders (same goes for unruly squadmates).
See you on the battlefield. You seem like a decent fellow, I hate to kill you...For when the One Great Scorer comes, to write against your name, he writes not that you won or lost, but how you played the Game
