Re: Is it time?
Okay, you got me there Wolf. The night maps really level the playing field. It's all about watching your ass and not running your battery down with the night vision goggles (did I mention night vision?). Talk about a whole new BF2 experience playing in pitch black.
I would be up for the night maps coming back, but maybe one at a time while we get the fanbase built up a little more. I've noticed that if we can just get the game started then the server starts filling up. You have to remember that not everyone is as dedicated to priming as TTP'ers. Once we start some rounds the pubbers come filing in.

I find your analogy of the vanilla server at 8 am........interesting.

Warflagon,
If SF isn't for you, then there is the a vanilla server. Reading through this thread, you are the lone voice saying its time to shut it down.
The numbers could be improved, but the battles on the SF server are second to none. The players who play on it are enthusiastic about having it, and that is the vocal opposition I speak of.
You aren't being denied your vanilla so if thats what you want to play, then its there.

Devil's Perch is definitely my favorite SF map. The biggest problem with night maps is that if someone hasn't played a night map since they last patched BF2 or updated their video drivers, the shader cache needs to be refreshed and it causes a lot of people's connections to timeout due to idle kicks.

It is fairly rare anymore to see the Nilla server sitting at 60+ players for more than a couple of minutes every night, so getting on shouldn't be a problem. (As of this time of typing 21:17 EST there are only 53 people on.)
I haven't checked your in game stats... (because thanks to school work I have 2 decent sized papers due this Saturday... and of course I put them off till the last minute) but if you are in fact a fan of ground pounding as the others have said, come join us on the SF server and you might find out you like it. When I first fired it up, I hated it... I played long enough to get my unlocks and got the hell off. Then, much later on I gave it another shot... and I was hooked. We are not just blowing smoke here when we say that SF has some of the most intense battles that BF2 has to offer.
Warlord is fun... yet predictable... the true teamwork comes into play when you are trying to get off of the land and onto the carrier in Gator. If you are going against a competent team.... and you finally make it onto the carrier it actually feels like you accomplished something especially when you can pull off a victory against the U.S. side.
So hop on board give it a real try and if you are confused by any of the map layouts ask and we can give you the general layout to help you get good at it.
Hope to see you in there.
Drax
p.s. yes I realize 7:45 am is a poor example of a server having people... I was being sarcastic.
