02-27-09, 05:48 PM #1Cancel the monthly matches?
Well, looks like we are going to have to cancel another monthly BF2 match due to lack of interest. The match is tomorrow and we have maybe 8 confirmed players, no second commander ever stepped up to challenge me, and we have no maps. The things used to be great each month, but now it seems they have lost all interest. If there is no longer any interest then there may be some ideas to replace them, but first is it time to call them dead?

Re: Cancel the monthly matches?
I voted no.
So what you don't have the high turn outs we used to have.... change it up. Instead of sticking to a 64 player map layout change the size up to allow a good game for those that confirmed and those that reserved that can show up.
A 16 player sized map is a helluva lot of fun.... if you aren't comfortable playing that size of a map bump it up to 32.
IMO keep it alive, but adapt to it. Adapting might even bump up the numbers because people might want to try some of these maps in their smaller versions.

Re: Cancel the monthly matches?
I'd say making a resident clan the "captain" of each side, and then those two clans pick their respective teams from those that want to play. I would sign up for these as I love organized matches, but I am never consistent enough with my BF2 playing time, and would not want to say I am coming and not come.

Voted no. Not every month is going to have a high turn out. Some months do better than others. I would not even cancel this month, as you never know how many last-minuters will show up.  Make the maps smaller if the pop count is low. No big thing
