    BF2 Microphone Question

Hello everyone. I was wondering whether you are able to monitor you own mic during the game?

When I speak on my headset mic, i can't hear myself - and the other night at 1:30AM, I woke my wife up. She was a little pissed off, and told me that I was really loud - not to mention - what the hell are you doing up at 1:30am playing a video game...

Anyway, I have the microsoft lifechat LX 3000 headset (usb based) - so if anyone else has it, let me know how it works for you. I also don't seem to be able to get the threshold test to work during setup and always have to use the B or V keys to talk

    Thanks,

    Bl33d_orange

    Re: BF2 Microphone Question

i imagine you could play with the windows audio settings if you wanted to hear yourself...but i'm sure you would not want that...not 'spose to work that way :P ie, you're not supposed to hear yourself...so no need to get louder in order to try and hear yourself, and subsequently wake up the wifey :P plus think of the extra feedback through the headset...your squadmates talking, the commander talking, then hearing yourself through the headset...that would make my brain hurt, especially hearing myself getting piped back through :P

as far as the threshold values and the talk keys, that's the way it is (that i know of), ie, there is no 'voice activation' setting in bf2 (which is a good thing in regards to having to talk between commander and squadmates when squadleader). the threshold setting, to the best of my knowledge, is simply the threshold that bf2 voip will start transmitting voice once you start using the talk keys (b/v). why they have a threshold setting for a push-to-talk (ptt) system is beyond me, but i have mine at like 1% i think.

    hope that helps some.

the threshhold test will not work with USB based mics. And those are the default voice keys that are required to speak to your squad or commander. BF2 does not support voice activated mic stuff.

Man do I feel your pain....I just recently installed wood flooring through out my home....no carpet at all. Do you know what tile and wood flooring does to sound......it amplfies everything. The other morning my wife came in atfter a loss at 1 AM when I said something to the effect of "!@#$ #$%# team!"

She said who are you cursing out? ROFL So I am trying to be a little softer in my voice....but I know me and she will probably get woken up again in the future sometime.

I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was!
