I gotta say...I'm not impressed. And if it's going to be scaled DOWN to 24 players, and not UP to 240.....then what's the point? I mean...what island that size is going to be tasked to defend AND ATTACK with only 12 guys? what kind of war is that?
If it takes two people to pilot things like tanks, planes, and APC's....then if there's 3 or 4 manned vehicles per side, there's only going to be 4 people on the ground? Who are the vehicles going to shoot at?

From what I hear the air power is much like COD4 where you call in an air strike, not actually fly a jet/bomber. It is BF 1943 for a reason, that is the time frame they are pulling game planning from as well as scenery.

airstrikes....like CoD4 style? Calling in a helicopter strafe run would be like calling in few fighters to come in and shoot up the beach in 1943?
.....an interesting twist, but still inferior to calling in another HUMAN to do the same things.
There was a B17 bomber in BF1942. YOu could fly it, and man it's ball turrets. It was nuts, teaming up with other fighters to bring it down, and it was fucking nuts to see that dragon turning across the horizon, lining up it's run. No jeep. No cover. All runway.....we're all dead......as the explosions start to land closer and closer...carpet bombed.
It was great, albeit a bit boring and/or a death sentence for whoever chose to fly the bomber. Until of course teamplay came into being, and then the bomber had fighter escorts like any proper bomber would.
and then.......then...you get on the mic and "call it in", just like you do a fat dragon in 2142 today. I'll wait on the deck for the call, with me and my gunners, and my figher compliment circling above.
........the more AI is put in a game, the lamer the game is. L4D is proof of that. Instead of being another zombie horror game, it's the teamplayer co-op ray of hope and sunshine to the world.
BF games aren't broke.....so I wonder why EA thinks it's time to fix it. Sure, CoD4 had a good run, but now it barely has half the global servers as CSS, when it was running neck and neck just 6 months ago.
