Oh boy and they describe 4 man squads!

I though I'd just share some thoughs on how I feel squads work in Battlefield 1943.
The team play basically comes from the fact that four players together (either close by, or three guys covered by a sniper some way off) are so much more effective than any single player, and because they can talk to each other and coordinate. I did this on a playtest we had just now. Two guys in my squad were running around on Iwo-Jima and I was sitting with a sniper scope in one of the bunkers on Mount Surabachi, giving them intel over VOIP and sniping enemies ahead of them.
Tanks for instance can be very effective at killing lots of enemy soldiers if the tank commander is good. But if a lone tank meets a well organized squad on foot that have one or two infantry men (the AT class) it's really going to have a tough time. They can even be all riflemen, and though not as good vs. armor they could potentially wear the tank down with their rifle grenades if the tank is unsupported (especially if they can hit it from behind).
The same goes for tanks. A squad of four guys and two tanks can be very efficient if they're wise and cover each other while repairing. Or one tank and a jeep that goes ahead and screens out enemy infantry. Another very powerful combination would be three guys on ground with one squad member providing air cover in a fighter. Unless he gets owned by other planes or AA, of course.
The style of teamwork depends on what people want to do with the squads. It's really just a system that gives you the ability to talk to, track and spawn on your members (as well as marking flags as attack/defend). As VectorRoll points out, the team play comes out of the very fact that you all gain more points and have more fun by coordinating.
You can however play lone wolf too, and many people do. Especially scouts like to sneak around on their own and set booby traps. Like all Battlefield games 1943 is an open sandbox and people can and will pretty much choose their playstyle.

They have been asked that and have hinted that they have something in the works that will appease PC nut cases that demand more war as opposed to stupid console nonsense. They of course wouldnt go into any detail and I bet any reply they give at Quakecon will be the same;
'Wait and see what we are working on that we cannot tell you about yet'

Yeah... this is supposedly just a bone they're throwing the PC userbase to hold us off until the next big thing... I guess since they ported the Frostbite engine to PC, that this was something really cheap & easy for them to throw out.
