When you get disco'd,go back out of your Favorites list to the Multiplayer tab. Click on the Update Servers box. This makes sure that you are completely disconnected,and dumps all of the stored info. Go back to your Favorites list,and re-join. Since I started doing this,I have not had the Rank or Unlocked weapons glitches at all. It takes an extra 2 seconds,but I always have my rank,and my G3. Hope it helps.
