I don't know why this increase in players is need so badly. From BF1942 until BF2142, 64 players has always been the max and it works well. 40 on each side sounds great, you guys are all crazy. As long as they improve on BF2, add some shiny graphics, I am cool.

What do you think the new BF3 will run on Fairy Dust?
I bet they just modify the current Frostbite engine.

It's already been well established that the Frostbite engine is being used for all current (including BF3) projects that DICE is working on. 1943 and BC2 for the PC are likely going to be the 'testing' on the PC platform so that all the kinks can be worked out for BF3.
