Re: PB General authentication failure kick ?
I'm in concurrence with oaklander, et al. this is the only server I have ever had this issue with, and it's fairly consistent. one of two things seemed to happened when the kicks started occurring...
1) server host(s) changed
and
2) started streaming pbbans
therein, my theory is that there is too much going on server-side, either process/application-wise and/or connection-wise. and it can be said all day that "the server is only at 5% utilization amongst 10 server instances, its not the server!"...but the 25% of people getting kicked every map change, along with the lagged/delayed round endings (that didnt used to happen either) tells me otherwiseso imo, it's either the server and/or the server's connection.
solution (other than coaxing theplanet to bring their uber boxes and connections back online for hosting :P )? unfortunately I don't know, as I'm not familiar with the bf2/pb/pbbans gamut. are there any pb and pbbans/stream tweaks? such as setting pb to wait until 5min has passed before authenticating clients (since the predominant kick message is for "authentication failed")? and/or set pbbans/streams to check/stream (whatever it does) at a later/longer interval and not at the beginning a map/round when most "activity" is happening server-side (map load, client connects, etc)? was pbban streams ever trial disabled just to take it out of the equation?
