Anyone know about this? Hali can't enable VoIP unless he has a headset in...and without VoIP, he cant hear people...that's not how it's supposed to be, is it?

strange and no that is not how it supposed to be - sound drivers up to date? Correct device selected in windows as the default sound device (in the case of add-in cards like sound blaster)?

Also, might mention to him that the PC Hardware and Technology board will get more eyes on this as well.

Does he have a USB headset or something?

I'm assuming his board already works for non-VoIP and he can hear the start up game sounds.

Assuming he's running Windows XP, he needs to go to Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices

Under the Voice tab, he should have the default playback device set to his sound board. His default input device should also be his sound board.
