Re: Asset Squads and Locked Squads
It is interesting that this has come up.Lately there has been a lot of people bickering over who is going to fly the cobra. Who is gpong to fly the huey's. To many times I have seen people on the carrier or at the main base and the only ones doing anything are people in apc's.
It takes inf to make lasting progress but seems like when server is light on players the maps with aircraft no one wants to be inf. After all the assets are lost we have lost the game. I joined a muttrah map and could not believe the aa crossfire they put up.Everyone trying to fly in only to be shot out of the sky.Cobra never made it to the city and they had aa protected with hat so that we could not get to the fob with any vehicles.Only way in was on foot. They had us pinned.trapped, and isolated.Wew got our asses handed to us on that round.

I hear you about the locking of squads. It's something the admins will probably be dealing with shortly. For some reason we have had a lot of people on the server lately doing this: join server, create a locked squad {usually named for an asset}, invite their clan buddy, and fuck the rest of the team. We don't encourage the locking of squads on the server, we do not endorse or condone the naming of squads for the purpose of controlling assets. Should you continue to run into problems, such as players not inviting you into their locked squad, please take screen shots of the players doing so, and post them in the disruptive player thread. Also, feel free to call out for an admin in game chat a few times, but remember to keep it respectful, let the admins handle the rest. Please understand that admins are frequently leading squads and trying to make things happen for their team, so they may not see your request for help and immediately respond to your current situation. Give the admins time to deal with a situation, but don't be raising a big stink in the game chat, which hurts the team as much as locked/named squads do. Thanks for bringing your questions to the forums with a respectful manner too them. It's much appreciated.****************11B*************** Look for Pathfinder75thB in TeamSpeak! ***************11B*****************

Re: Asset Squads and Locked Squads
DaKillerFox , use a training server to get the 'feel' of flying, then sigh up for the boot-camp:
The Official PR Boot Camp Sign-up Info Post
Hands on training with experienced players to show you the ropes.
Live fire on moving targets in the air or on the ground.
Use of pass-worded training server = low spawn times for gear and targets.
Everyone on server will be training or teaching = 0 players wasting your time or ours.
Good luck

You get to learn flying without people yelling at you and you're priming the servers(5 people or less!!!). It's what I used to do all the time and I do it every now and then these days.
TTP may frown on use of assets for training on the real server but if you're priming(5 people or less!!!) and getting the server up to population, TTP chooses a much more Machiavellian mindset.
This is also the best time to get direct player training. If someone else who flies helicopters or whatever you're at the controls of joins, they'll likely give you tips hints and tricks to pass the time. Maybe they'll give you a challenge or two! (Pinnacle landings, running landings, confined area operation, slope operations etc...)

Re: Asset Squads and Locked Squads
Hey SleepyBean, thanks for the kind words. I definitely tried all the different servers out before finding TTP to be one of the better ones to play on, if not the best in my opinion. I've been on plenty of other servers where, even in a 6 man squad there is nothing but dead radio silence for most of the round. I've found that there are a lot of consistent and great players like yourself here on TTP.
That's not a bad idea really. I mean, I check GameTracker.com to see how many people are on TTP througout the day when I don't have a few hours to play yet, but plan on playing later in the day. I usually hop on when there's about 20 players or more, just because I don't know what happens when there's only 4 or 5 players. But I guess that is a great way to prime the server, when there's only a handful of players, there's really not a lot of people to fight over assets.
This thread really was more about people locking their squads and not letting other people join, but I was enlightened when someone mentioned that those locked squads aren't friendly anyways. I still get a little peeved when I see 2 or 3 man locked squads, but I just shrug it off and remind myself that I probably don't want to be in those squads anyways.
I'm still having so much fun learning all the weapons (the difference between HAT and LAT and the Insurgent kits, like the RPG) and gunning on the APC's and Tanks that it'll probably be awhile before I learn to fly.
