You can get in the beta from various sites really easily without preordering... or heck, preorder from steam and immediately cancel and you still have beta access.

Having an unlock a week or so early is not worth double the price.

This comes up every so often, they do not have to honer that price if it was a clerical error. They may, but they are not required to take a 20-30 dollar loss simply because some data entry jerk flubbed up the price.
