Anyone worried that BF3 will be BC2 rehashed?

I agree in part with Loadmaster. BF1942 was by far one the best game and the dogfighting and naval ships were fun. Omaha Beach is an all time favorite of mine. I did like Vietnam, just cause it was different gameplay and you had the mobile spawn. BF2 has been fun, but damn I am tired of playing it. BC2 is a welcomed sight, although they need to get a lot of shit fixed. No teamplay when you have no commander and 4 man squads with no voip.

Indeed, 1942 is magnificent. The enormous powerful ships that even acted as spawn points were brilliant, and I've yet to see another game replicate that. There were definitely some balance issues such as the scout kit being overpowered, but considering what the game did for the time period, 1942 was the best title. I'd give the best balanced award to 2142, but there's something very...classic about old Battlefield 1942.

Sure wish I had time to play any of the Battlefield games during prime time, though. Most of my time for games now falls around 4-5 PM, but that's unfortunately earlier than when BF2 and 2142 really get going.

the only reason BF2 is better than BC 2 is because of the amount of tactics involved.... I was rather disappointed that you couldn't choose your squad you want to play, that you can't be a commander and give squads orders, also where the hell are the items that the commander uses all they give us is this tracer darts to track tanks.. and you don't even get them the first time you play... BC 2 looked like a frostbite experiment still than living up to BF2 standards.

You can choose your squad. Don't check/click the "Put me in a squad" when connecting to the server. As for commander items, Arty strike is replaced with the recon mortar strike and to some respect the UAV. There is no real replacement for the UAV or satellite scan, but I suppose that the UAV in BC2 is about as close as you can get. BC2 was never meant as a replacement for BF2. The replacement for BF2 is long rumored (and never confirmed) in development. BC2 is a Call of Duty clone done a lot better (even WITH the bugs.)

Are there still servers running it?

I never played it.

Actually it's more about server lag (which there can be a lot of even with "just" 32 players) as well console players. At least we have dedicated servers, MW2 doesn't even have that...
