Despite some glitches, PC version doing well
It seems that despite all of the talk that first-person-shooter (FPS) titles have moved on from the PC platform to the console systems, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 might be bucking this trend more than a little bit. Our sources tell us that the sales for BFBC2 on the PC platform have been surprisingly strong for the PC platform right out of the gate, despite the fact that there are more than a few bugs that are in urgent need of being patched.
The majority of the issues for the PC BFBC2 community seem to center on problems with Punkbuster and the internal server browser that is unique to the PC edition of the game, as it isn’t necessary for either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version of the game. While the company is examining the situation and trying to resolve the problem no time table has been set as to when PC players can expect a patch to address the issue.
No matter the problems, it still is very interesting how much momentum the PC version of BFBC2 has had right out of the gate. While we don’t know the actual sales numbers yet, several sources close to the situation insist that the sales were much higher than DICE thought the PC version of the game would generate within weeks of release. This is confirmed by our sources that tell us that since release, the PC version of the game frequently has more players online than the combined total of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 BFBC2 online players.
