Help with automatic weapons
I've been trying to get used to Assault, Engineer, and Medic in the game but I can't seem to get auto weapons down. Single shot and burst fire weapons I can do easily, but automatics I have trouble with. I understand the concept of short controlled bursts, but it seems half the time it's not enough to drop the enemy.
Usually here's what I do
Close range: Spray n pray if they're shooting at you, short 4 round bursts if they're not.
Medium range: 3 round burst
Long range: 2 round or 1 shot at a time
I shoot the burst as fast as I can so that way I can drop the enemy as fast as possible. But it seems it never works, any advice on how to get better at this?

Re: Help with automatic weapons
No, I think they're tough, too. Aim low and let the recoil run the bullets up the body.
Part of the difficulty with the auto's might be explained here: http://www.texasteamplayers.com/index.php?topic=79593.0"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."

Re: Help with automatic weapons
Personally, unless they are right in my face, I just tap the crap out of the fire button. Usu like 1-2 shot bursts but in rapid succession. Seems to work pretty well.
edit - for the medic weapons, they are still pretty effective at a medium range using what viktor said. I still prefer the tap tap taparrooo method.

Re: Help with automatic weapons
For assault rifles:
Medium to Long range: Short bursts(I don't think they are consistently 3)
Short range: Unleash hell, but you will run out of ammo quickly.
For engineer SMGs:
Long range: One shot precision shots.
Medium range: If moving 3 short bursts. If still 1 shot hits to the head.
Close range: Full auto
For Medic MGs:
Long, medium, close range: Full auto with adjustment based on target movement. Aim about neck level. About that area you have a good chance of grabbing headshots(Which are common with the MGs) but you don't lose a large portion of bullets when aiming too far up.
It doesn't take much to take someone down. Worry about hitting their body, but aim for the head if you can.

Can't comment on the others too much since I don't use them compared to the medic guns but here is what I do.
I personally will only go full auto if they are close or there are multiple targets close to me. Medium bursts work good too though in rapid succession if you time them correctly. Long range I usually do 1-2 shot bursts if I can, sometimes more depending on how far away they are. And I try to aim for the body as well.
I also almost always keep moving, being stationary doesn't usually work too well. I can usually kill the enemy before they kill me moving around and shooting like I mentioned above.
For Engie I usually try to do short bursts as needed but full auto will work sometimes in medium-short ranges, just empties your gun quickly. But that is when you pull out your pistol if the target is still up.
Assault I try to burst a lot more than anything just because of the recoil. Seems to work a lot better for me than ever going fully auto. Perhaps it is just my lack of experience with the weapons so far though. We'll see as I get more practice in I suppose.
Hope everyone's responses help you though man.
