It's more intense, but since you only have a bit more than half the people on a side than you normally would have, uneven teams can really cause issues with team cohesiveness, ticket bleeding and such than in BF2. That's my current #1 pet peeve (other than the broken voip). And it doesn't help that autobalance only happens at the end/beginning of rounds; I have yet to see the sweet sweet "barely made a comeback" type of game you can get on BF2 (where the winning spread is < 10-0 or something); usually one side just completely dominates.

And the voip being broken is even worse than no-voip on BF2 because at least in BF2 you still have the commo rose; in BC2 you can't even do simple things like ask for health kits or ammo without having to type it out, which nobody bothers to do because

Also some of the roles are reversed from BF2 and 2142 as well, which I dunno if it works as well - the automatic rifleman is now the medic, instead of the medic carrying an assault rifle in BF2 and 2142, and the assault kit now carries ammunition. Also you are limited to 4 person squads (instead of 6).

Autobalance happens throughout the round, although the imbalance has to exist for ~1 minute before it's triggered. It's not like BF2/2142's draconian (heh, heh) autobalance that will instantly force any soul unlucky enough to be dead to the other side with no recourse.

I've seen more than a few close games, just have to keep playing. They're not that usual in BF2 either, it's more common to see one team win by at least ~70 (of 300) tickets in regular play.

Look at a teammate with the appropriate kit and press Q; you will ask them for their services (medics for healing, assaults for ammo, engys for repair, etc.)

That's why Q is called the "communicate" button. A single keypress serves the essential functions that the commo rose did. Still, I miss not having a "thanks" or "sorry" to throw out there sometimes.

Also some of the roles are reversed from BF2 and 2142 as well, which I dunno if it works as well
I like the new class choices; they're an interesting spread that doesn't make any one kit superior over all others (medic in BF2, assault in 2142).

Medics can heal themselves, but they have a loud, innaccurate full-automatic weapon that makes CQB or distance shooting difficult (or it should, sodding M60 whores...), and they don't have any explosive destructive potential so they're limited to shooting people and very vulnerable to vehicles.

Assaults have accurate rifles and the 40mm grenade launcher which gives them a good explosives punch for making new entrances or dealing with grouped infantry. Their ammo packs mean that they can be effective back-field skirmishers too, but they won't be getting very far without a medic to keep them healed, and because the 40mm has a limited area of effect and limited damage against vehicles, it will take an assault quite a while to emulate the more explosives-oriented classes.

Engys have the big booms, with launchers that are easily capable of removing whole floors of buildings, as well as their tracer-dart-homing capability that lets them rain death from the sky. As well, they get mines to close off whole sections of the map for long periods of time and the repair tool to make precision firing positions for their teammates. Counter to that though is their weak anti-infantry stance with an innaccurate, low-damage SMG to defend themselves, and limited ammunition for their launchers means they need teammates to stay in the game.

Recons get their sniper rifles for precision anti-emplacement duty, as well as motion mines to help spot out enemy movements. Plus, they have the biggest booms of them all, both the C4 that can literally drop the whole building on top of your opponents, and the mortal strike to make any stationary target run in terror. Balance that though with the rifle's low ammunition capacity and slow reload after a shot, and they don't make effective front-line troops nor do they have the capability to harrass the backfield for long without support.

And then you have the unlocks, designed to augment one attribute while sacrificing another; shotguns for outstanding CQB capability balanced by a lack of hitting power at range and a healthy appetite for a limited ammo supply; battle rifles that give increased stopping power for a lack of longevity and accuracy.

Overall, BF2's class balance is fairly bad, 2142's is significantly better though not without flaws, and I think BC2's has the best balance yet seen.

Re: RICO squad is now leaving BF2

Dracos bloody well right - I'm so tired of hearing people say about the kits are so unbalanced in BC2 - I love all the classes - Yes I have a sweet spot for the medic and M60 combo but I'm one of those here's a medpack buddy medics That's also why if I'm playing I'm up the top of the scoreboard - I do tend to hang back and keep my squad up and running and those around me too... Yes M60 is my friend and I have taken down a full squad by myself with it, but I have done the same with my knife, with a 40mm with a C4 or with the help of carl... BC2 is more arcadey but in a good way.

The proof is in the pudding and I find BF2 MUCH tastier.

BC2 is COD 4 with EA clothing. Sure you can blow up everything but spawning anywhere, smaller maps and teams and poor communication abilities make it a COD 4 clone

To be totally pedantic it's supposed to be an MW2 clone

Never having played COD4 MP, you could spawn on anyone in your squad or something? That seemed to be the only real difference with BF2's spawning. Other than that you can only spawn on your squadmates (instead of just the SL) in rush and you can spawn on captured flags in conquest (all maps have spawnable uncaps). But that's it.

Poor communication seems to be be anyway; some other thread mentioned how most games, BF2 included fewer people used VOIP than we do, so we've just gotten used to that.
