Nope, it's a standalone game utilizing the same engine; you can run either vanilla or PR with absolutely no changing preferences or reinstalls. It simply creates its own shortcut on your desktop

You will run into an issue of PR reseting a few settings in bf2,
if you play PR on your BF2 account, your BF2 crosshairs will be set to clear
Your auto reload will be disabled
Your ask me to quite will be uncheck
All these can always be changed back when you start up bf2.
Its best for you to makes a second account to avoid that pain for joining a bf2 game and then realizing you need to go back to the menu and fix things.

would suggest if you don't like it try it out atleast 3 times. because i wasn't much into it the first time because i wasn't used to that type of gameplay. but once i played it the 2nd time i had a blast.

our server doesn't get going until late in the night, however its a good idea to try out the single player to get the hang of the game. Serveral factors are changed for SP but its a good starting point for stepping into the real PR world.
