    Command rose?

Is there a command rose/list like in Battlefield 1942, Vietnam, 2, and 2142? I like to be able to request ammo/repairs/helths, say thank you, and the likes. So far it looks like all you can do is spot enemies.

Just started last night from the Steam version, and surprisingly, PunkBuster didn't seem to hate me or anything and I got to play several uninterrupted rounds. The server browser takes a long time to load, but it doesn't look like there are many other serious issues with it, at least on my rig.

Nope. Spot button does it all. When you need a medic, look at a medic and press Q. When you need ammo, look at an Assault guy and press Q. When you need repairs, look at an engy and press Q. Etcetera etcetera. I miss the commo rose

Well, to put this more detail-edly, DICE replaced the Comm-rose with what they call the "Socialize" button. Q is meant to be an all purpose button that lets you issue orders, request health, supplies, repairs, etc. What I've found so far that the Q button does is:

Issue defend orders on a flag that has your team's flag currently on it
Issue attack orders on a flag that either has your enemy's flag on it, or is neutral
Request health, supplies, and repairs from their respective classes
Request a driver to stop to let you in (Q on a vehicle that's not full)
Request a player to stop so that you may heal/resupply them, or tell a driver to stop so you may repair them
    Spot enemies

I find the "Request" commands to be very useful. Requesting anything will put a wildly flashing marker on the receiving player's minimap that is incredibly hard to miss. On top of that , you can quickly issue orders (when it works. I think you have to have a minimum number of time in-game (or in-round) or be the top person in your squad in order to issue orders).

Admittedly, not having the "Sorry" or "Thankyou" options is well missed, but players are generally thankful when you give them ammo or health anyway, as they find it helps them carry on their business. The lack of the option just makes it seem impersonal.

You get use to it really since it is quicker to do things for the most part. I still kind of miss it but it can be easier at times too. A little too easy though and makes me think I'm on a console or something how easy it is to spot enemies all the time.

And it really sucks not having a global option to say "Sorry" for TKs especially since the dead can't see any chat at all.

Okay, sounds fair enough. I really miss "requesting backup" and whatnot, but I can live without it.

1942 had a ton of commands, F1-F8 would bring up eight other messages so you could do things like request anti-tank support specifically and whatnot. Or you could just tap the key twice and give a general message like simply needing backup. You could also request attacks or defends on specific flags. It took awhile to learn where everything was, but you could communicate very well and work around the lack of VOIP.

I have no idea why I started talking about 1942

    ...

How do you get stars for equipment and what do they get you?

    Re: Command rose?

Stars get you points mostly and are just like badges. You get them after X amount of kills.

For weapons it is 25 kills for bronze, 50 for silver, 100 for gold, and 1000 for platinum I believe.
I believe everything else is a lesser scale, but I don't remember exactly what it is.

Bronze should be 500 points, Silver should be 1000, and Gold should be 5000. I assume platinum 10k points? Haven't gotten any yet and haven't really worked hard enough toward one yet.

Unless you are talking about other equipment. I believe just using some of them gets you points. Like X amount of repairs or resupplies or revives etc. Some you can get kills with like the paddles or the repair drill.
