well desert combat is the game that battlefield 2 failed to live up to. this is the battlefield forums. i thought y'all would be down for a little reminiscing about the good old days romping around the lost village in the sky. :P

I never tried that mod, the core game was good enough. Very nice expansions too.

Desert Combat was the precursor to BF2.

It's what started it all.

I followed this game from it's inception until it was killed off to make way for BF2.

It's a classic.

DC was epic. I played BF1942 for a day before I got DC. Never went back. Talk about hard to fly!
The hummer in the original couple of releases must of had at least 1000hp. You could launch into oblivion.

Ah DC.....memories.....

The ones that come to mind are:

I remember calling out for artillery - Bravo Battery adjust fire, grid over! Your teammate over teamspeak would be scouting enemy territory while you parked your howitzer or SCUD launcher in grid A1 and honed in on your target from the other side of the map. With the right precision, you were GOD.

I remember helicopters that were intense to fly vs the autopilot noob mode that helos in BF2 are.

I remember humvees with 1000hp also, that could take driving into a deep chasm from a high canyon road and still allow you to arrive alive and in one piece.

I remember how much fun it was to spawn in the C-130 gunship and how cool it was to jump out of it and have your player make the geronimooooo sound and hear him shit his pants on the way down before opening his chute.

I remember MLRS missiles and A10s, and so so many planes......OMG DC was the best game of all time in my opinion...
