Re: Voip and Steam
Digital - the problem that I see with having a public TTP Vent server is that it then becomes one more thing that someone (admins) must police. Since there is no way to control what nick is entered into Vent (tying it to soldier name for example) there is no way to really identify that those in Vent (on one "team channel") are playing on the right side. This would be a rampant avenue for "ghosting" and asshatery and stat padding. Someone with multiple channels switching between our public and their own private relaying information to a friend.
Is this possible already? Sure is....but why would TTP want to potentially host such a source of problems?

Re: Voip and Steam
There will never be a public TTP external voice server. Ever. You can stop talking about it, justifying it, arguing over it, proselytizing it, playing semantics with it, whatever. Not gonna happen, end of story.
Now, I'll ask again: Can ANYONE confirm that the fix listed in the OP does in fact work, or that it does not work (ie, breaks the VOIP)?

Re: Voip and Steam
OK, I have the Steam Version. Freshly installed, game files fully up-to-date and cache integrity verified.
The setting as originally set in GameSettings.ini said: "VoipRecieveVolume" (misspelled)
I changed the line to read "VoipReceiveVolume". (correct spelling). The setting was 0.500000 (50%).
I went into the game, into Settings, and changed the VOIP Receive Volume setting to 0.80 (80%).
In GameSettings.ini, I now have two entries, one with correct spelling with a 0.500000 setting (50%, the old value), and one misspelled with a 0.800000 setting (80%, the new, current value).
_________________________________________________
Therefore: The setting in the game code itself is misspelled, and the misspelling in GameSettings.ini is the proper name of the variable for VOIP volume. Changing the spelling of the setting breaks the VOIP volume.
Can anyone duplicate the steps above and achieve a different result, especially those that say their setting is not misspelled?

Re: Voip and Steam
Ok the general consensus is VOIP does not work in this game unless using Teamspeak or Ventrillo.
So until then we will all be running around like chickens with our heads cutoff and finding a hiding place to type for help which by the time it is typed out the help is no longer needed.
