I run it on an even older AMD dual core (x2 4800+ 2.4 Ghz) and a Nvidia 8800 GT. I run the game on 1680x1050 and medium settings. I average around 20-30 FPS, which is on the low end for tolerance but is still playable.

Minimum requirements stated a dual-core processor. Recommended requirements stated quad-core processor. I noticed a HUGE jump when I went from my Athlon 64 X2 6000+ to my Phenom II X4 955. A slight bump in the actuall speed (but Phenom II's are faster on a clock by clock basis anyway) but I found the BC2 beta MUCH more playable with the quad core, over my dual core. At the time, I was running an 8800 GT and was able to run on high graphics with passable frame rates once I updated to the quad core.

If I turn it up it chokes sometimes from the newer eye candy. But BC2 does not require a quad core, although the consensus is that it performs considerably better with one.

I am actually considering getting a Phenom X4 because of this game. I can play perfectly on medium, maybe a quadcore would let me turn it up a notch.

And FYI, this game on Medium looks better than any shooters I played on High previously!
I'm running on an Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.00 GHz with a ATI 4850 on medium settings at 1680x1050 and it is pretty smooth most of the time. I'm sure the game would run better though if I did have a quad core processor or better but I just don't have the money for an upgrade at the moment.

It really is smooth though most of the time and the lag tends to be server side from what I've seen anyways as it is not consistent on all servers all the time. And Soy is right, this game looks great on Medium settings still.

The only real difference I can see sometimes is it'll sometimes take me longer to load between maps and on maps like Rush, that is still a huge disadvantage because sometimes I'll just be getting in and the other team will already have like an m-com down because of the difference in load times. Supposedly they were going to fix that but I haven't see the delay between rounds yet. Could just be how slow my system loads though in comparison.

    Re: BC2 Dual Core performace

I have a similar setup as Soy except just a single 8800, and I think my 1920x1200 resolution.

I tried to run it on a dual core AMD x6000 with 4gb of ram and an 8800 gts but it wouldnt play for shit.

Upgraded to a quad core phenom X4 and was suddenly getting decent performance in the medium at 1920x1200 - very playable. not required, but depending on other hardware may greatly improve fps.

That's a driver issue. There's some beta AMD drivers that work for the 4000 series (10.4a). The official drivers (10.4) only work for the 5000 series cards.

Hmmm. Haven't checked the beta drivers. Not use to messing with AMD/ATI cards so I'll have to look for it and test it out then. Might be later today then, we'll see. Thanks for the info though.

Actually... get the 10.5 drivers that just came out today... they have the fix in for the 4000 and earlier cards.
