BF: BC2 Blog: Show off your shooting affiliation with the Gun Club
EA is launching a new loyalty program which will allow members to receive benefits ranging from in-game content unlocks, early access to beta tests and demos, as well as the hottest news and exclusive access to development teams.
Starting from today, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 VIPs get access to Medal of Honor rewards (See www.gunclub.ea.com for details) including early access to the Medal of Honor beta and the M24 Sniper Rifle in the retail version of the game. You can keep up to date on what awards you qualify for at the official Gun Club site at www.gunclub.ea.com.
“This program takes our games from being individual launches to being part of an ecosystem within our portfolio, while showing fans our appreciation for their loyalty. The Gun Club gives us a platform to cross-pollinate our games, dialogue directly with players and add value to the entertainment experience for fans,” says Jeff Karp, Senior VP of Marketing at EA. “Today, we are launching the Gun Club with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Medal of Honor – two of the hottest titles coming out this year… and this is just the beginning.”

I'm sure it will be though. And I would hope the Gun Club program is for just pre-ordering the game, not matter where you get it from. Probably just give you a key that the company get's from EA. Gamestop tends to do that with other games at least.

Except that in the case of Scarcraft II, Blizzard always patches their games for years after release so you know there will be plenty of support for it. They've charged $60 for their games for a while, but show extreme dedication to those games--just look at Diablo II and Starcraft. With Medal of Honor, EA will patch it consistently for a month or two, then flip the bird and leave the game to rot. Why? Because that's exactly what they've done with every other game they've made in the last half decade.

They do patch their games for years I'll give them that. Haven't bought a Blizzard game in awhile then I guess since I remember paying $50 for mine still. I really hate the trend to charge more either way though. I suppose as long as there is good, long lasting support for the games, hopefully they'll be better then.
