    Farewell

This a PM reply to a forum user which sums everything up and why I am not considering the unban process once more.
I do not feel like subjecting myself to an unban vote. I am tired of being banned for a blanket policy on what I call a very loose definition of "teamplay" subject to various interpretations and excessive team switching on a server which I believe is automatically balanced. The admins on this server are out of control accusing people of hacking and being quick to ban.

Just some of the many few screen shots of blatant TPG member abuse.
The talent on the TPG Server is low except for an exceptional few such as Allane, Defiant, Alundil, and Meth. I agree with you people do not understand the capabilities of the game like shooting through wood, using slugs with shotguns, 40mm Shotgun Launcher, or using the modified recoil with the Thompson and are perfectly content with using the bread and butter weapons like the AN-94. Hell, I've even seen TPG members using a Gustav without knowing basic physic or hunting concepts such as leading your shots. I enjoyed playing with you and against you because you were a challenge and had the same play style as I do. I wish you all the luck in the world.

To mattscooby and investigator: Accusing me of cheating wearing a 5th tag on a Hardcore Server I frequent only makes you look like morons and your clan even moreso.

    Re: Farewell

I have played with Vaselli and as far as I can tell he has never hacked, glitched, or anything out of the ordinary. I don't have proof one way or the other, only that he doesn't stand out as a hacker...just a good player. I can't remember if we've ever been on a squad together so I can't comment on his teamwork.

I'm not sure why you were banned. It is not contained in this thread.

Sorry you won't be in the servers anymore. Maybe you will reconsider? We could use all the TPGers we can muster.

    Re: Farewell

Well, Vaselli, I had always supsected something odd about you, considering you have an average of a 3.0 K/D ratio (when anyone who has played as long as you have does not normally have a K/D over 2.3, if they're lucky or just very skilled). However, I never suspected you of cheating or hacking. Your tactics were always legitimate, if not entirely fair (one hit kills from slug shot, Carl Gustav kills abound), but since I've seen the tactics you use all the time from other players, I quickly discount them. You simply took the best of the best in terms of fighting tactics, and applied them to your own enormous skill, and thus piss the hell out of people because they can hardly fight back against you. This is the same phenomena with Methuselah (except he's easier to kill), so I can't believe you were ever hacking or cheating.

I do hope you come back to check this thread, just in case there was some shred of regret that you left our premises. Your presence on the server, just as with Methuselah, always drives me to be a better, sharper, more alert player, and thus causes me to progress in the definition of my own style and skill. Some of us will miss your presence on our server, me included.

    Re: Farewell

I was mad that you kept sniping me yesterday, it was uncanny, I've never spawned and died so quickly and so many times in a row before other than being excessively team killed or something. I'll admit that whenever I see a high performance player with stats out the roof I tend somewhat question their skill and usually observe them a little bit closer. I've never seen anything that would indicate you cheat but one could also say that there's no evidence that you don't cheat. The same could be said about anyone thought.

I was also frustrated that both times I was inches away from getting your tags I got killed. I'm not mad at you though, there's no reason to be and you've always been respectful as far as I can remember. Regardless, I still REALLY want to (and will enjoy) getting your tags, road killing you, CG'ing you, C4'ing and perhaps, if the mood strikes, t-bagging you.
    Lucky you.

As a policy I won't accuse someone of cheating unless I've seen it myself. There's been times in 2142 that I've seen regs, members of resident clans, do things that really made them appear to be cheating, (such as jerking around incessantly - e.g. an out of control aimbot) but I wouldn't want to alienate someone, or myself, especially if there's a good chance I could be wrong.

That said, you seem to get into your own routine and a lot of times end up as a lone wolf, sure your stats are great but you're on your own. You may want to consider getting more into the Squad mentality and bumping elbows more. In my honest opinion that's where the fun is and that's why a lot of us play, for the team play, being team players and all.

I think that with such high stats and somewhat solo game play you can come off negatively and even irk people who enjoy playing and working together to tackle objectives and other squads only to watch you sit back, a lot of times on your own, shooting fish out of a barrel and racking up kills. I think that's somewhat contrary to team play. There's no "I" in team - so saying "I killed 30 of them" or "I stopped their advance" or "I brought about that victory" doesn't cut it, it's what WE did as a team that matters. Just some food for thought man...

Also, I think it's important for everyone to "leave it on the field". However the round went, how ever well or poorly you played - play hard, have fun, work together and when the rounds over, leave it on the field...

    Re: Farewell

    Vasselli,

You are an excellent player. I dont think anyone can doubt that. Do you hack? You say no, some say yes, your stats seem to show something peculiar, however, in the end, it is quite difficult to prove that someone hacks. There can be strong evidence, strong enough that you were once banned on suspicions of hacking. As evident however, you were unbanned, and still played with us until a couple days ago.

The problem that many excellent gamers have, is that they frequently focus on their stats and gameplay. Some have been able to focus their stats and abilities so far that they become as skilled, or sometimes, even more skilled, than you. But that is where the problem lies: the singular focus on stats. TeamPlayer Gaming was founded back in 2005 to be a haven from people who focus all their time and effort on skills and stats. A haven away from the "l33t, pwning, CAL ranked players" of the gaming world. A haven from players who say:

[18:33:13] Vaselli > look at my score
[18:33:18] Vaselli > compared to urs
    [18:33:21] Vaselli > now stfu
Here, we tell people we dont care about scores. We dont care about how bad or good of a player you are. We care about the team win. Together Everyone Achieves More. Our fundamental mantra is sacrificing ourselves in the game to keep the team running. We would rather see 1-2 medics running to revive the squad leader, getting shot down and having to wait to respawn, than having the squad leader wait to respawn. Why? Because with the squad leader up, that allows for people in the squad to spawn on him and clear the area and help drive the team a head.

    Attitudes like:

[18:45:15] Vaselli > what i do know is im 100 times better than u
[18:45:20] Vaselli > which makes me a winner
    [18:45:23] Vaselli > and u well
[18:45:29] Vaselli > just another suck
    ...
    [18:46:51] Vaselli > when i raped u with a uav
are exactly what we have been squashing and shitting on for the past 5 years. Quite successfully, I might add considering that we have 8,000 registered members, sponsorships, literally millions of posts, 9 games, 20 game servers, and over 21 hosted clans. Our way of running game servers is highly successful considering that ALL trends are showing positive growth. But what happens to players like you, who just focus on your own skills, stats and "i p33n"? They get shown the door VERY quickly in communities like ours. They get kicked out into the cold, world of gaming where people dont use their mic, dont work as a team, and dont focus on the team win above their stats.

You even begin to realize our thinking when you say:
[18:50:05] Vaselli > so ur saying i didnt claim objectives the last round?

Only to be followed up later, after you teamswitch to avoid the loss by:
    [18:53:14] draco7891 > so you're just gonna switch team?
[18:53:50] Vaselli > do u like to talk trash
We do NOT take kindly to those actions. TPG has been founded and built on the skeletons of players like you. Players whose sole focus is on themselves instead of the team. That is why you were banned again. In many cases, we see breaches of teamplay as one of the most heinous crimes on our servers.

As for some of the chat logs you have provided, those players are not admins. They do not speak for the admin community. What they are saying is not against the rules. Does it reflect badly on them and their clan? Sure. But its not against our rules. What you have done, IS against our rules: focusing on your stats and not the team, as well as teamswitching.

You have the choice Vasselli. You can choose to accept our mantra of the team above the player, and the win over the individual's stats, or you can leave here, and go out into the cold world of online gaming where there is no one to back you up and to revive you when you are down.

    What will you do?

And yet, even though the rules are vague and the admins are capricious and the players are all talentless, you kept coming back. So, how much stock should we put in your assertions?

You can cry your crocodile tears about how you've been persecuted and try to make this out like some exceptional player being banned because he was too good, but both you and I know that's not at all why you were banned, now is it?

    No, you were banned for being a KD-ratio-waving, points-whoring, team-switching non-teamplayer.

The map was Valdez Conquest, fresh as can be. I know that because I set it on that map to prime it. I was the first one on the server. Eventually, we got a tiny 4-man game going. About halfway through the tickets, you started using the UAV extensively, so I called you out on it and this is what you said:

[18:32:53] draco7891 > you really need the UAV?
    [18:33:00] draco7891 > that's how little skill you have?
[18:33:13] Vaselli > look at my score
[18:33:18] Vaselli > compared to urs
    [18:33:21] Vaselli > now stfu
    [18:33:38] draco7891 > score means nothing
Fast forward a bit, and our team manages to pull the win out by 5 tickets. So I give you a little ribbing to hammer home the point that only the win is important:

[18:42:15] draco7891 > score means nothing without the win.
    [18:42:28] Vaselli > dude
    [18:42:29] Vaselli > ur bad
[18:43:13] draco7891 > and you lost. Which is worse, to be a loser stats whore, or the team who won?
[18:43:48] Vaselli > so being down by a 100 when the game actually started and losing by 1
    [18:43:57] Vaselli > and destroying u
    [18:44:00] Vaselli > is a win
[18:44:20] draco7891 > you lost by 5, and the tickets were equal because the map was fresh.
[18:44:27] Vaselli > no it wasnt
[18:44:34] Vaselli > but gj trying to justify it
[18:44:47] draco7891 > yes, it was. I know, because I played through the previous round.
    [18:45:00] draco7891 > I was the first one here.
[18:45:04] Vaselli > im not going to argue with u
[18:45:15] Vaselli > what i do know is im 100 times better than u
[18:45:20] Vaselli > which makes me a winner
    [18:45:23] Vaselli > and u well
[18:45:29] Vaselli > just another suck
[18:46:01] draco7891 > do you have to learn to delude yourself so badly, or does it come naturally?
[18:46:37] Vaselli > i like when people begin to talk shit as u did
    [18:46:51] Vaselli > when i raped u with a uav
[18:47:01] draco7891 > the win is all that matters. Not your KD. Not your score. Not your stats.
    [18:47:04] draco7891 > just the win.

[18:47:52] Vaselli > this is not challenging for me to run back n forth to claim objectives
[18:48:09] Vaselli > when u purposely avoid me by using a chopper knowing that i would probably kill u
[18:49:22] Vaselli > the win is obviously more important.....the losers with a 10-30 kd ratio love it when they win
    [18:49:43] draco7891 > so you're just a stats whore
[18:49:51] draco7891 > just here for points and KD ratio
[18:50:05] Vaselli > so ur saying i didnt claim objectives the last round?
[18:50:08] draco7891 > because nothing else matters to you but some numbers on a webpage

[18:51:02] Vaselli > if we went from objective to objective in order...who do u think would win?
[18:51:22] draco7891 > you can play what ifs all day, you don't have to go from one to the other
    [18:51:27] draco7891 > that's the beauty of battlefield
At this point, my teammate and I have secured every flag and are waiting at C, waiting for you to do anything. Instead of pursuing the objective, you choose to hide out in your main and abandon your objectives. And then the coup de grace:

    [18:53:14] draco7891 > so you're just gonna switch team?
[18:53:50] Vaselli > do u like to talk trash
    [18:54:16] draco7891 > are you a stats whore?
[18:54:33] Vaselli > nope.....but stats just come natural
With your team down to ~50 tickets, and my teammate so thoroughly bored with waiting that he left, you chose to switch teams. You switched teams and then didn't even have the balls to join the squad and sit on C. You plopped your ass down in our main and continued our verbal sparring. You chose to switch just so that you wouldn't take the loss, and then you disconnected immediately after the round was concluded.

That's why you're banned. You didn't push the objective, you abandoned your team, you team-switched to take the win and preserve your stats, and your attitude reeks to high heaven of someone who is focused only on himself and his personal stats. True enough, you had a 37/10 KD and were the points leader on the one round you did play. But you still lost. In fact, you lost even though you started with a ticket lead, as I had lost a few during priming, crashing the chopper and trying out different kit equipment.

The rules are not vague: Pursue the objective. Secure the win. Support your team. Work together. These are simple, easy rules to follow. But, you have to have the right mentality, and the willingness to set your own pride and your own desires aside for the betterment of your team. You, however, are too vain to see that.

So in the end, you can bitch and moan and cry foul and claim we're just persecuting your skill, but it's all really just you refusing to take personal responsbility for your own mentality, trying to twist the situation until it suits your massive ego.

But all that does is make you look like an immature, non-teamplayer chump.

    Draco

With Dracos explanation of the ban, this thread no longer serves purpose. You can try to get unbanned if you feel the need to try, but I think you thoroughly showed that you won't.
