Unlocks, Northern Strike, and me.

So, I recently ranked up twice and I've been saving the unlock points until I decided what to do with them. I currently have the following unlocks:

Recon 1/4
Assault 0/3
Engineer 4/3
Support 4/2
SL 1 (Just the beacon.)
PA 2 (Just the extra sprint stuff and frags.)

Now, Potemkine recommended I just go with the kit I use most and stick with it but that's my problems. Recently I've been trying to get all the silver badges I can and while doing so I've noticed I like playing every single class. When the one medic in the squad gets sniped, I grab their kit and revive them. When we're pinned down by tanks, I spawn with my Pilum and nail it to the wall. When we are inundated with infantry, I go support and rambo my way through the crowd. Of course, I just recently discovered how much I enjoy sniping and knifing people with recon as well. There really isn't one class I stick to anymore. I used to play exclusively support with the LMG and turrets, but now I play pretty much everything.

From what I hear, the sniper rifle unlocks begin to be useless after the scope and the SAAW isn't quite right as of yet. The Clark may be worth the unlock, but I prefer to not reload as much and the heartbeat monitor is so inaccurate it's ridiculous. I've heard good things about the Voss, and having field unlocked it I would rather save my unlocks. The medic missiles are apparently awesome and I could put both unlocks on that side to get them as a field unlock.

Now for the best part, Northern Strike is about to change the idea of working to the 3rd level and field upgrading as the new unlocks are on top of each tier. In essence, you will need all of the current unlocks in your tree to field upgrade to the Northern Strike unlocks.

The unlocks I am most interested in are the new Support Clark-12RDX as well as the IDS-1 infantry scanner, the Engineer Motion Mine bait and SMG clip upgrade, and the Recon Advanced Camo (apparently an extra .5% on the time, so about 6 seconds).

So what would you guys recommend I unlock? I have 2 unlock points to use and I need to spend them at some point. Otherwise, I will leave them there until Northern Strike preloads on March 1st. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

the rockets are very deadly. watch Tango use the rockets and you will find out how powerful they are.

some people like to unlock the sniper rifle, i don't. not at all. i tried it again last weekend because Tango uses it all the time and i can't get past having to reload and having such low ammo.

i am liking the Clark shotgun more and more. i'm not he twitchy kind of guy but with that shotgun you don't need to be.

i'm still the deadliest when playing Recon but have been working on my Assualt kit more.

of course if you would play more then you wouldn't have to worry about these decisions... :-)

Hehe, well put Trot. When I get a real job and I'm out of school I'll have plenty more time to play, I'm sure. That's why I've been working the badges the last week or two. Still working on the Engineer repair one and the Explosive Gallantry ones for silver but for now I'm onto Assault. There will be easier unlocks/awards in Northern Strike as well, but it's a Catch 22 until you hit Brigadier General.

I may unlock the scope if I keep playing Recon. I'm enjoying sniping way too much, that and Camo shanking. It's worth the humiliation of being pistoled every once in awhile.

After looking at your unlocks, I would say, you like doing everything.
Well if thats the case then your kits should be balanced. start unlocking the stuff in the baur tier so you can get to it.

I like that gun a lot. Even though its got 20 rounds per mag, I can still kill 2 people or more per clip where as the standard gun, I have to use the majority of a 30 round mag

after that start use your field upgrades and see which ones you like/use a lot then unlock those as you rank up

I agree with Potemkine,
The Baur is sweet. On full auto, it is lethal at close range. Set it to semi-auto and its almost as good as a sniper rifle.

Get the unlocks now or because they might be later unlocks. You might have to use those 4 unlocks just to get one of the new unlocks. Saving up never works unless it is money. :P

I agree with Trot. Unlock what you like to play. I use the advanced sniper rifle and the magic medic rockets like Trot uses the shotgun. I am as good with them as he is with the Clarke. I think it is up to you. To find out what you want save your unlocks and squad up with a squad that rocks and use the temporary unlocks to see what you like the just go out and kick some ass.

Clarke shotgun is great in my opinion, especially when defending the titan or a cap point. I don't like the baur but i think it's cause I haven't used it all that much. My plan is to unlock something everytime I can until NS comes out and then I'll be ready to unlock/field upgrade the new stuff.
