Re: Operation Blue Peral
Blue Pearl whips the shit out of me until the US side makes land. To me it is not even a match until then. And when the US caps a flag, I enjoy the map. Last night was pissing me off because if the US team screws up at the spawn of the map, it is over. This map reminds me of that SF map, can't remember the name, but you have a carrier and the other team has to try and reach the carrier by land. If they screw up and can't make it, it is very, very boring.

Re: Operation Blue Peral
Teamwork is the answer to OBP. Commander has to there at the start and SL' s need to move quickly. SL's need to already be assigned and ready before game starts. If you are not a SL then hold off joining a squad and see what SL's make it across then join that squad and spawn in. After a flag is taken you can switch to a different squad if you want to. SL's must not lock the squad.

Re: Operation Blue Peral
It takes 17 seconds for the PLA to go from Old Square to either Temple or Market.
It takes 28 seconds for the US to go from their uncap to Market, or 36 seconds to get to Temple.
There is no teamwork that will defeat cold, hard times. The PLA can be on top of the flags and have them capped completely before the first US soldier can possibly make landfall. In addition, those PLA who do not focus on the flag have the time to run to the forward bulwarks and fire AT rockets at the very first US boats, never mind the second.
The red-line "funnel" is so small that a single UAV can completely cover all valid approaches to the land, and give away the position and intention of every US soldier trying to leave the uncap.
The open map is so tight that there is no place to pilot a boat that is not within sight and firing range of the shore. PLA defenders have an open shot at a US boat all the way to landfall.
If the US don't secure a flag in the first minute (and often, in the first volley of boats), they will never make landfall. BF2 Artillery is too imprecise and too diffuse to make a significant impact to the entrenched defenders along the walls.
The only way the US secures that crucial first flag is by PLA apathy, charity or sheer blind luck. Either the US has to be given the flag, the PLA have to be so disorganized that all of their troops went to one flag and not the other, or a US soldier has to get that one perfect grenade throw that instantly kills all the PLA defenders.

Re: Operation Blue Peral
My question is why did they even bother putting in all of the construction and stuff on the bottom of the map and then red it out? If they had any sense that area would be open and then the map would actually be pretty damn good. The freaking red zone is where they failed.
