Oh where oh where could the airwhores be...

oh where oh where could they be? As battlefield ages on I find that more and more airwhores disappear. I know you ground pounders are saying "Wha?" But it's true. Battlefield is a little over 5 years old now and I have experienced every one of those years; yes the blackhawks used to be cold blood killing machines which would rack up to 600 points per round. I was there when everybody wanted to fly and literally half the team would be waiting for their beloved machine of death. If some of you new ground pounders were there in the day I believe there would be much more rage filling your thoughts than nowadays as bomb after bomb explodes at your feet.

The direction in which this post is going is toward the lack of jet pilots, chopper pilots, and chopper gunners. As some of you may know I am also $KyC4ptain~. In today's era of battlefield I believe that it is difficult to grasp the concept of flying. Because many veteran pilots and gunners have left the game completely, the motivation to become a better pilot or gunner has deteriorated. Many players are content with being just a ground pounder or just an average pilot. Those that ground pound complain about "talented" pilots that are in the sky moreso than a commander complains about the team not getting it together. To be quite honest it gets annoying. How do you overcome getting blasted from the air? Become what you fear the most. Become a beast in the air as well as the ground.

What I'm really trying to say is that ground pounders are complaining about being bombarded from the skies, when in reality the pilots that are bombing you are not the best pilots that used to roam the servers. Example: I'm not the best chopper pilot/gunner/jet pilot but I can hold my own. I was in a chopper today with a three star general (won't say who (don't even think they're a regular)) on Sharqi. I'm flying him around pointing him at primary targets such as the AA's that are locking on to us, the vodniks that are shooting with 50 CAL, and most importantly the other attack chopper. The player payed no attention to anything other than the attack chopper who was facing the opposite direction. This isn't a once in awhile situation either. This is every time that I am on.

What I propose to you ground pounders is to challenge yourselves to become better in the air. Many of you will say something along the lines of "Why don't you airwhores ever strap on your combat boots and be a real soldier." Truth is, all of us airwhores started the first 2 years of this game ground pounding. We have spent our time on the ground and have adapted to the air. Now it's your turn.

Sorry about the 4 walls of text, but end of rant.

*clap* I WANT to Fly, but I need a Good Keyboard Set Up until I get a New Joystick which I am currently looking into thats to the PC Techies of TPG/TTG. So give me a Good Keyboard set up to Fly and I will gladly do so, I tried using the same set up for BF2 as BF1942 and it was a No go, Atleast I tried though.

Re: Oh where oh where could the airwhores be...

The days over the over-armored, kill anything within a 100m, cap a flag in 3 seconds, BlackHawkWhore crews are long over! THANK GOD! But don't confuse using that over powered stat padding machine with SKILL!

I'm not ashamed to admit it - I SUX @ FLYING!

Well, I'm not really that bad. Oh, I can fly from point A to B but, don't know what it is, I just can't do air-to-air combat against anyone but noobs. I am an excellent LGM gunner though, average, at best, TVGM gunner but I rarely get my choice of pilot. So... instead of flying/gunning for 30 seconds, then idling at the hangar for 5 minutes waiting my turn, or getting kicked, I decided to be more useful to my team and pwn on the ground.

BTW, it makes little difference getting air-raped by an 'Airgod' than an 'Airnoob'. meh, I know MANY 'Airgods' who suck on the ground, mostly because they spend little, if any, time ground pounding.

Look, I don't want to insult anyone here. I luv my flying teammates and envy your skill. I will even do yeoman work for them by guarding their precious airfields on maps like Kubra, Dragon, and Clean Sweep because I know how much their presence means to my team winning the round.

IMO, the issue today is not a lack of good pilots but most of the good pilots stacking to one side!

Why? Just spitballing here but ... Cuz most good servers have now adapted a "line" system or "no idling at airfiled" rules or "no flying back-to-back rounds" rules . So, why fly against someone good, taking a chance of getting shot down, and then having to ground pound the rest of the round? Instead, they switch to one side, try to steal the other team's air assets, and then fly unchallenged the rest of the round. Even if they don't get to fly, the chances of them being air-raped are greatly diminished.

The best rounds are when the sides are evenly matched. When one side dominates, the rounds SUX.

Besides, why should I fly and get shot down over-n-over costing my team tickets in an attempt to get better when I'm so much better at spanking the rest of the enemy's team on the ground?

Hmmm ... on second thought ... will TPG be willing to give exemptions to us ground-pounders who want to learn to fly better from the 'line' and 'idling' rules? Indeed, how about priority access to all aircraft for the next few weeks ... Months ... YEARS it will take for us to get better? Hey, if you're already a 'good' pilot, get out, go ground-pound, and let us noobs fly!

You make it sound like you and your gunner were not in the same squad

You’re kind of your own worst enemy here. Look at your stats, your total time in vehicles is 111 hours, 59 are in a chopper and about 32 in a jet. That’s 91 hours or 81% of your time spent in air vehicles. Pot calling kettle, you want more action in the air but you don’t give your opponent a chance or share with your team mates. The real challenge is for you to stay out of the jets and choppers to let others get more experience. By the time they get to your skill level, you will have become another veteran pilot who has stopped playing altogether.

LOL! I think most of my flying time has been in a jacked jet, than in my own teams jet.
I've been changing that. I wondered why our jets seem to be sitting on our airfields.
I still have that inevitable problem of crashing into invisible objects and flying into never never land....
But I will try to fly!!

Dan can't GP, he has no legs for Pete's sake.

All kidding aside, I have been in squads with guys like Dan, Xav, Ranger10, and many others who are always willing to teach those who are willing to learn. When you keep getting beat by the same problem then you have to learn to do something to overcome it, so adapt, or keep dying.

A big problem in combating air power is so few people use air defenses properly for instance don't just sit there making a huge bullseye of yourself and anyone else that may be in the area wait till the aircraft is just past or engaged, fire reload and get the hell out then wait for the next opportunity chances are good that you will get at least one round into the aircraft and if they pass another manned station the chances of bringing it down are good or it's weakened enough that it has to leave the area.
