There's is inherent risk to adding a second server, regardless the format. We've seen what can happen when you add a second server and the user base is not there to support it. BF2 and 2142 both tried 2 servers. I can speak to the events surrounding the 2142 server because I was an admin at the time. We busted our ass for months trying to keep both servers primed/active. We tried switching formats, we tried assigning different admins to different servers, etc and in the end, it ended up burning out a solid core of admins, many of whom are no longer at TPG.
Rest assured, we're looking into adding a second server, but be aware that if the first server starts to struggle, you can be guaranteed, the second server will be shut down quickly. The server we have now is the priority. We've put far too much work into that server over the last 3-4 months to just let the fruit it has bared to wither on the vine. It'll be up to the 'masses' who want a vanilla server to make it work. We asked the same of all the people calling for TPG to re-host BC2, and we'll do the same for those calling for us to host a vanilla server. It'll be given every opportunity to succeed and have the same support we gave the hardcore server when it first game online, but if we build it and they don't come.. it won't last long.

03-08-11, 02:16 PM #154I don't dispute the success of the current server, and in fact I applaud it. However, there is no evidence to support the argument that things would have been different with different settings. If a vanilla server comes on line and stays full while causing a population drop in the current server isn't that evidence of what people truly want?
Who are Michael and Gary?

No, because by and large, the users who were pushing for BC2 to be re-hosted (the ][5th][ & ::VTRX:: guys, and others) wanted hardcore. We have plenty of new found regs (<3shack and others) who are on our server because it's hardcore. Sacrificing the current server in favor of a new server WILL NOT happen.

Re: Regular or Harcore
Are you saying if a regular server goes up and the number are really good, even better than the current hardcore server, but it causes the numbers for the hardcore server drop, the regular server will get shut down?
Unless they were both struggling I see no reason to shutdown the regular server, If both server are suffering by all means keep the original hardcore one. But if a regular server goes up and it does twice as well as the hardcore, doesn't that just show people want regular more and the hardcore (If it is lower in number) should be shut down?Last edited by insanegammer109; 03-08-11 at 02:53 PM.

If there are so many of this Community that would Play here if we hosted Vanilla, why don't you put your money where your mouth/fingers are?
If you want it so bad, Pledge out some reserve slots!
I have a BC2:HC slot and I'll be keeping it HC too.
