Re: Regular or Harcore
Wow is right...
I'm just going to respond with this... I prefer to use the F word as a Verb.... I suggest you may want to think about it too.... It might help ease the frustration... If you know what I mean.
I did see the apology... But please think about some self controll before posting..
This is a game folks!

Re: Regular or Harcore
Whats this off of? Kind of feels like accusations before polite questions, no need to be sardonic. You've run into the room shouting something equivalent to "YOU DISCRIMINATE AGAINST PLAYERS BY PRIORITIZING THE OPINIONS OF ADMINS", rather then just a simple "hey, so we've got a HC server up, running full damn near 24/7, how about a softcore server, now?" and rounding up interest...
First,
Course we prioritized the opinions of admins ever so slightly more than players. Admins are guaranteed primers, almost by contract, so we can expect game play from them if they voted they prefer X over Y. We fire admins for not enough play time, we cannot fire players. So yes, during the initial stages of setup the second time around, admins (from open signups) were valued mored, because their the ones we can count on priming. gotta appeal to them first, right? After all, the server will not get player traffic unless it has primers and we have no primers unless we appeal to the primers: the primers whom are statistically made up of more admins, than players.
Sure the vote may have been in the admin section, because we know the voters then, ARE BC2 players let alone GOING to be on the server. You see players who dont even play the game voting in polls on games they dont play (and never plan to) all the time. Take for instance the recent tf2 poll on FF after a round. I saw users going in voting, and saying things like "i dont play tf2, never have but i voted". What the hell, get out of the poll then! Unfortunately, we do not have a method for only allowing active players of ____ game to vote. The closet thing we have is surveying the poll against admins only of that game. Which guarantees the poll is not skewed by idiots.
Granted theres the obvious downfall of locking out the opinions of the active players (who are not admins) of that game. This may have been what happened with the vote for the initial polling for softcore vs hardcore for TPG's second BC2 attempt. Plus we had the added tilt, that after open admin signups, many players did get to vote, because they were now admins.
So there has to be admin interest in it, either from already hired admins, or players interested in applying for adminship. but you also have to keep in mind, admins are players and 30 admins whom prefer hardcore over anything less than 20 players whom prefer softcore, is still majority on a vote of player opinions. Until counter opinion rises to a quantity large enough to justify a second server, then yes, technically admins opinions are valued more. But their being admin's is only coincidence, like if they were all wearing green on the same day. It doesnt change the fact that theres still 30 players (whom happen to be admins) vs ____ who want something else.
I've clearly missed something, but honestly, I do not plan to read 20 pages of whining and flaming. My TPG todo list is gigantic and everyone will appreciate the time not spent studying these gigantic threads. F
From what i gather though, everyone (admin's included), need to have a cup of shut-the-$%^-up, take a few to chill, and re-approach this in a manner that does not resemble the approach one would take when trying to grab a rattlesnake bare handed. Because everyones approach here is shit, either by nature of trolling and accusations, or by baiting, from standard logic we know accusations will not be quelled by counter accusations.
