Vanilla and 3D spotting. Thoughts.....

Hey TPG,

Played all last night on the vanilla server and had a blast, thx for the games.....

Now there is one thing that seems a little out of whack and that's 3D spotting. I went 71/16 on one map (full 32man) from basically sitting in the middle of the map shooting at orange triangles. That's not fun for anyone and I believe 3D spotting is lazy and way to easy. Not only that but it takes away from the team play experience as no one needs to use any tactical talk. Why say "Three guys left of Alpha" when you can just whack a button and poof "Insta Wall Hacks".

Your thoughts?

PS. You can turn off 3D spotting just so you know...

You got a new avatar. It's so that the server displays as full vanilla, if you change stuff it's not full hardcore, you weren't here when the vanilla server started you you missed that talk.

So when you turn off 3D spotting, can you still spot people and they show up on the map?

I like the red marks on the map but the 3D is excessive.

Yes 2D spotting will still show up on the mini-map and main map.

Yeah I get the show up in the filter thing.... Its such a shame because vanilla has its moments but with 3D spotting it feels.. Dirty

the whole Server browser needs a rework. hell a whole new Gui.

Whats a GUI? and other than the 3D spotting whats up with Vanilla.. It is what it is.

It is kind of dirty. You only see one person over behind a rock then all of a sudden you spot that ONE guy and his whole squad behind the rock shows up.

Personally, i like it but im not nearly a good enough shot to exploit. Not to say i haven't popped a few rounds just south of one of those red triangles off in the distance to get a surprising kill, i just don't make a habit of it.

Man I bash spot like a mad man. Its pretty much an instant death sentence for the other player. Every gun within 100 paces turns and shoots at the poor bugger. Thats the problem though.... The more people use it the less fun the game is. People were accusing me of hacking and everything under then sun but once I had my team hooked on orange triangles everyone was doing it. I could't reload fast enough to keep up with the killing....

If nothing can be done... then I guess it stays as is.... Its kind of fun for the kills but I feel like I need to take a shower after

If 3d spotting or ANY of the vanilla "features" are turned off, the server no longer registers as a vanilla server, instead it comes up as a modified hardcore.. This has already been discussed numerous times and it's been finalized. I personally like 3d spotting

when I play Vanilla

. What cracks me up about it as that I NEVER see anyone else using it. It is one of the BIGGEST advantages you can give yourself in an FPS i've seen and its rarely used.
