With the previous popularity of the Call of Duty series in general, its very clear that it will make an appearance in the pro circuit.
BF2/BFBC2 are not really the sort of games that draw in a professional competitive scene.

    Re: Competitive Gaming

I did big time for Ut2k4, as if that's a surprise (where my hit scan talents were nurtured and matured).

Eh, i'd be pleasantly surprised if BF3 yielded competitive play, though i am not hopeful because its got waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many things going against it at this point. Not to mention the BF series have a track record for being horribly anti-competitive scene, 3 guesses on which company you can blame for that. In fact i do not think WCG has ever hosted a BF game. And unless i am mistaken (cevo maaaaay have had a BC2 league but i may be thinking of MW...), TWL is the only 'reputable' (i use that world lightly in tandem with TWL) competitive scene, that ever tried making something competitive out of any of the BF games (excluding the fanboy BF leagues).

I agree with Duddy, you'd be better off spending time in a CODMW* game then you would BF* if your trying to go competitive.

But as for getting back into the scene, I think i've resigned myself. Too much time involved for me to adequately get back into the scene with my current schedule.

Eh no, not dead, its in a lul. CSS and MW were really the last truely competitively fuled games. Now the game development industry is focused more on quantity than quality. A ideology that does not mix at all with 'competitive'.

While most of the big time pro leagues shut down, theres still a few remaining, like WCG.

Both the problem and the biggest damn shame, is that we need a decent, new game.

And no offence, but i'd be shocked if it came from anything associated with EA. Especially since they LOVE closing and locking all their doors to the community, particularly, their lack of cooperation with anticheat dev's like PB, but also community map contributions (most important when default maps blow for competitive play *COUGH* 90% of BC2 maps *COUGH*

    Re: Competitive Gaming

I'll be taking the Shack back to TWL for BF3. (We went 13/1 in the Hardcore ladder for BC2)

We entered a CEVO tournament for fun but it was running mid summer and we were down to a skeleton crew. Playing 1 guy down vanilla conquest is not something I recommend

Pro for money PC gaming is not going to pay any bills. Most of the prizes are in hardware so unless your a black belt at Craigslist your going to have to pay your rent in CPU's Sponsorship is an option but then you have to be flexible enough to travel and not be ugly. No one wants to stick a ball cap on a monster no matter how good you are at the game.

PC competitive gaming is for FUN right now, it might change one day but I doubt it will be BF3 or COD that jump starts it. If I had to guess I would think a MMOLG shooter that goes WOW level popular will start it. Think Planetside mixed with BF3 without the lag. If a single game can pull in WOW numbers they can make the push to spectator sport quite easily. With all those eyes marketing folks will be falling over themselves to sponsor it for competitive play.

PS. Hacking will have to be crushed first. Building in hardware anti hack systems to next gen graphics cards would go a long way to solving this. I posted some ideas about this before.... I'll look it up if anyone is interested.

I wouldn't mind playing for fun, not that I'm pro by any means.... just think it would be a good time.

Hmm, this would be interesting. I wounder if we had one for BF2. Wounder, how well I would do with a little team... Who am I kidding, this isn't for me I wouldn't even make it on the list.
