Come on dice, you were bragging about the level of custumization you implemented in the game. Why can't we trade off ATG missiles for dumb bombs ? It would be perfectly balanced, if they made ATG missiles less deadly than dumb bombs, or having less spash damage, or something within these lines.

I guess it's too early to tell. So far the only things we know about choppers is that they have infinite ammo, like every other vehicle (why), and that tv missiles are back. Theres still a lot of stuff that will make or break the chopper gameplay that aren't revealed yet (maximum altitude, maneuvrability, thir health (being taken down by one single rocket was exagerated in BC2 when you consider how big they are and how low they were flying)...
Still looking foward to it tho, gotta keep positive.

I think jets will basically be able to fire missles at enemy vehicles that have a tracer dart planted on them. like BC2
Of course, given 3D spotting, starfe runs are also possible. Image gunning down a wookie under some trees on a hill...

Might as well put in my two cents:
I'm not much of a vehicle person, but I've had my share of experience with them in BF2, BF2142, and BC2.
The auto repair is simply infantile. A tank gets damaged, new plates don't magically reappear on your tank. You get hit, the bullet doesn't magically pop back outside of you. If it was below 25% that you auto-repaired, that would make sense. Below 25%, you're probably having things like engine damage, fuel leaks, combat systems non-operational: all things that can be field repaired before the vehicle is forced into knocked-out state. As long as it gets rid of the stupid warning klaxon thing.
As for jets lacking unguided bombs, coming from a couple hundred hours of BF2 on the TPG server, I can see why they chose that. Bombs were as prolific as bullets on the battlefield in BF2. Bombs were just another way of saying "put artillery here to kill this one guy". You could then just turn around in 2 seconds and rearm and be back on the battlefield with a fresh set of munitions to kill large amounts of people with. With the advent of Mortars (HE only, I hope this time), which should be brought from BC2, the unguided bomb would just bring excessive firepower to the battlefield. With the introduction of having to mark targets with the SOFLAM, kill ratios against armor can improve, and guided bombs can hit exactly where they should now.
ATA and ATG missiles are a fairly good idea, as that's what we use today. ATGs will probably be more overpowered than the unguided bombs were: lock onto a target from all the way across the map, level out, and fire: missile goes to target, hits from above, target knocked out instantly.
If all else fails against infantry, you have 20mm guns that fire HE rounds for a reason. Especially the A-10."In matters of style, swim with the currents... in matters of principle, stand like a rock."
