The difference is BF2 had what a dozen unlocks, all of which were different guns? BF3 has tons of unlocks, and they are not just guns. Some are tools, some are weapons, some are vehicle specific. Some you get for ranking up, but others you get for getting kills/points with a specific weapon, class, or vehicle. I actually prefer the unlock system. It rewards people for sticking with whatever weapon/class/vehicle, and does not allow someone to fly a jet for 2 seconds and be an instant death machine.

Re: BF2 vs BF3
Someone who plays gets rewarded with unlocks. What's the problem? That is how it should be. The beginner guns are some of the best guns in the game and we have many pros here that still use them, even though they have tons of other stuff unlocked. Someone who has been jet whoring since day 1 is going to school you because they have skill and know how to fly. Their plane unlocks is not going to be the game changer. At least this is true on TPG, where we have many skilled players...

You shouldnt have to unlock weapon systems for aircraft. Everything else sure no problem i get it but aircraft are what they are. Thats why its stupid.

How is that any different than buying BF2 years after release and trying to compete on TTP with people who have been playing since day 1? I had to learn all the maps, tricks, and other things that made me a better player. I had a less than 1 kpd for quite some time after I found TTP.
