Thread: Hope for BF3 on Steam

According to an anonymous report BF3Blog received from inside Valve, the developer/publisher is currently in late-stage talks with EA in bringing Battlefield 3 to the Steam digital distribution service. The rumor says that Battlefield 3 would be available on Steam just in time for the game’s release on October 25.

but would you still need battlelog origin itself doesnt seem to do anything for bf3 but download it and launch battlelog

Man that would make me so happy. I've been holding off buying it in hopes that something would happen later down the road.

Origin just hyperlinks to Battlelog. But, you need Origin on to actually play. You can just go to the Battlelog website and use it as a social site. I would much rather be on this than Facebook any day.

Of course it's a rumor lol. I don't think we will hear anything about this until the deal is finalized, and not a moment before.

At this point, I don't see why everyone is so hopeful about a Steam release. It buys you the ability to pay for the game via Steam, but you'll still have to install Origin (DRM) and you'll still need to use Battlelog for a server browser as it's the only option in the game. So what does it really buy you other than paying Valve instead of EA directly? EA still gets their money, just like anywhere else.

yeah, but through steam EA doesn't get my bank card number or my pay-pal info. I never want to let them have that info, not after everything a bunch of you guys went through for 2142 and eA Downloader

That's why when you aren't willing to trust a vendor you come up with alternative payment methods. I have a rechargable Visa card that I use for situations just like this. I will add money to it before I use it... In the case of buying BF3 (at a discount) on Origin... I transferred $50 to the card and made the transaction. Works like a charm. I typically use it for all my online purchases.
