So my experience was slightly different. The game took about 10 - 15 minutes to install. First it installed origin (which I already had) then it began a download process. It was downloading extremely fast though. I think it was just verify the information on the disk and updating the beta client I had already downloaded or something. Perhaps the other guys who had to download it didn't have the beta client? Either way it's ridiculous to get a disc copy of something only to have to download the damn thing when you insert the discs. I would have been so mad to bring that game home, insert the disc thinking I'll be squading up in no time only to be told I have a nice 11 gig download on my hands. WTF were they thinking? Just make the game a digital download and save yourselves the costs of making boxes and discs.

maybe some of it was downloaded...but my guess is the graphical stuff is all on the disk...you'd be surprised how much you can compress an image.
In my microprocessors class last semester, we were compressing images down to 75% and sometimes even 50% their original size. I'd imagine there are other things that can be compressed too.
but, seeing as how everybody's physical copies are taking ages to download, i'd imagine they may have gone a different route

may not be much but This was just posted by BF3 devs 2 hours ago:
"We have resolved the networking issues that were affecting PC users. Multilplayer and Origin authentication services have returned to normal.
Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience."
Hope you are able to get your game up and working Kill8ox; that's a killer pc you have, it'd be a shame if you weren't able to tear up BF3 with isLast edited by salty99; 10-28-11 at 12:29 AM. Reason: aesthetic appeal

Re: Never ever again
Thanx a bunch guy's it is working now .However my first impressions of the game are not that positive.Characters bouncing off like puppet's on strings ,and in my eyes even the BFBC2 was better. I hope that future patches would fix some of this.
Thank you all.
