You can try rolling back to an earlier graphics driver. I am running an older driver for my ATi graphics card because of the same issue with one of my systems I play on.

    Re: BF3 reboots my PC...

Got a text from my pal today:

Him - "What is your orgin screenname"
    Me - "BrockSamson1985"
    Him - "Sucks. I probably need a new gpu. I only have a 9800gt."
Me - "It should run on low settings. But my buddy was having issues with his 9800gtx. His pc would crash every few minutes while playing."
Him - "Its too laggy even on single player."
Me - "Did you download the preview drivers?"
    Him -"Yes"

    ** 2 hours later **

    Him -"Playing any battlefield tonight?"
Me - "Probably not, I am working late."
Me - "So you have a decent frame rate now?"
    Him - "It's flawless"
Me - "Awesome! What fixed it?"
Him - "New $300 video card fixed it."

Thought you guys might find that funny.

It happened to me also few times now , like Thorsen said no BSOD ,no warning from my CPU fancontroler just restarting Windows
I got the two 6870 in Crossfire with newest drivers so i think it is not Gpu manufacturer related ,it has tto be something else.

Okay well. I fixed my problem.

Brock, I owe you a big thanks for making me check something I normally would not have. My PSU fan had indeed stopped working, and my PSU was overheating.

I ran out to my local PC enthusiast store and grabbed a 700w 50a(+12) PSU and played with no problems for 3-4 rounds last night.

85 is nowhere near too hot for GPUs. You should be worried when it gets up to 95C. Less than 80 is preferred but not necessary.

Well I kind of did the same thing. Friday after finally downloading and installing BF3 and spending 2 hours trying to get the right driver that wont cause my system to crash I get to play. Well it was laggy as hell and I couldn't see vary far. So Saturday morning I went to fry's and bought 2 new xfx 6850 2gb video cards. I have 2 different systems that play on so I decided to update both cards. And now game play is awesome after spending 600.00 bucks.

Glad to hear, case and PS are two most forgot about items in a PC that are critical for a great gaming experience.

Glad to hear you got the problem solved. Did you get your gtx560ti installed yet? Like you, I had a dying 9800gtx. Could hardly run on low/med settings. It looked worse than BF3 on my xbox. I went out and got the gtx560ti and now run almost completely on Ultra settings and it's amazing.

Yes I did, and the card is fantastic, VERY good price point too.

I run on a custom mix of medium high. I CAN run on ultra and get 50-60 FPS but I'm a competitive dude and I don't like ANY slow downs, so I run it on medium mostly. On my settings I get about 120 fps average, even in big fire-fights.

The PSU that lost it's fan is in my OP.
