Re: Back in my day...
I'm not sure who ever said BF2 had a good release. I certainly didn't say that. I didn't even bother playing the game much until ~2009.
But I do very much disagree with your point that all games are flawed. I have said repeatedly games from almost all small studio games that are wildly successful have amazing support and usually bugs are fixed within hours/days of being found. I rarely see anything but the most minor bugs persist a week or more. Blizzard is an enormous game company and manages to work and compete in much of the same manner as these successful small studios so it is not just the size of the company that dictates that... EA just has different priorities.
But it sounds like we agree on pretty much everything else except when to buy the game. I choose to let my money talk and I also make note of my displeasure on the forums in hopes that 1.) Others do the same and 2.) EA/DICE at some point notice. I don't care what industry you are in, you see forums, reviews, rants and raves of your products and you have to try to have a little pride in your work. If you garbage is getting bad mouthed, you will be more inclined to fix the problems than continue producing garbage.
No one likes hearing a project they worked on for years being trashed or being called lazy/disappointing. But that is EXACTLY the kind of negative feedback these clowns need to see.

So once again I ask, what company is making a mass player FPS that doesn't have flaws? I play EVE. It has flaws, but it is still a good game. You mention Blizzard, but I hear tons of people complain about WoW still. I have never played it, so I can't pass judgment on it. What FPS games are you playing from indie game developers that support at least 40 players in game?
I don't disagree with your right, even your responsibility, to voice your displeasure, BUT I do get tired of displeasure that is unfounded, or hypocritical. "I don't want to use Origin." Great, now go tell Valve you don't want to use Steam to play their games, and see how that works for you. I have stated in multiple topics the flaws I see in BF3. No in game VoIP is absolutely atrocious. That should be their number one priority, bar none. Yes, we have TS, but we shouldn't have to. The other issues, like a web based server browser, Origin, and many of the other things that people mention I haven't had any problems with, and while yes, they are new/different that doesn't mean they are EVIL.
Installing a floor, will post more later.
