That's cause for a long while the 1911 in BC2 was overpowered, I believe later in it got a nerf

No way man. The pistols in BF3 are fucking awesome. I've never seen a game get pistols so RIGHT before. Games tend to either overpower pistols to all hell (BC2) or underpower them into obscurity (Every other FPS ever). Pistols are legitimate firearms and can definitely drop someone fast, however they do shoot at lower velocities and tend to fire smaller bullets, or have smaller loads, or lower pressures etc etc.

BF3 nailed it, both in terms of realism, and in terms of making a pistol useful without making it more useful than a primary. I prefer the tactical pistols since I can run around without a huge beacon shining out of my primary rifle, but when I need to finish someone off the blindness gives me that little edge.

Best tip for using pistols is to not use iron sights. Always fire "from the hip" (so to speak) with pistols. They have plenty of accuracy for midrange without wasting time sighting up.

My quote was straight from the in game (well Battle Log) description as a reason why it does more damage than most ARs. Their reasoning is More damage but more recoil.
