Re: Tank question: guided shell vs regular shell
I always use the reg shell and light machine gun. Did not like the trade off not having the light machine gun. It's too important for infantry who has rpg's waiting for you. It's a good balance to have something for the infantry and something for the other tanks unless you know you will not be engaging infantry at all but what's the fun in that and it's a waste of a tank IMO.

Re: Tank question: guided shell vs regular shell
I'm not saying 3rd seat is useless but not for guided missiles from the tank you're in. For air vehicles, usually they'd be gone before you'd get a lock and then you're sitting there looking at the sky instead of vehicles or tanks around you. I prefer canister rounds to the guided shells. They do murder to infantry and does damage to all vehicles. It also seems like you can flipped between main cannon and canister pretty damn quick. If you take drop into account, they'll shred helicopters pretty damn well too.
I think the soflam, javelin, javelin and support combo is by far superior to tank, gunner, 3rd seat.
