Thread: Why you are who you are

I think it is interesting how everyone has fairly unique handles for online gaming. I was curious as to why you chose your handle.
I will go first.
My handle is my real life nickname. As Crage can tell you, most people call me Gumby in real life, not just on the video games. It is a nickname from high school that somehow stuck. My wife even calls me Gumby most of the time. Sometimes she adds my last name and says it quickly and it sounds like Gumby-Key. She does that because that was how we were introduced to each other. The way I got the nickname is a bit of a story. In high school, I drove a 1974 Honda Civic. A very small car. There was this one girl that had an almost obsesive crush on me. My friends even nicknamed her Stacy after the character Stacy from the Waynes World movie. So Stacy had this thing for me and she is at her locker one day talking to her friend. She was telling her friend how she and I had gotten busy in the back of my Civic. Her friend knew that that had not happened because she saw me that night at my place of work. She told "Stacy" that that was impossible because that car was so small that I would have to be flexible like Gumby for that to have happened. Of course one of my friends was standing there at his locker overhearing all this and he and everyone else started calling me Gumby. The name stuck and here I am.
I can think of a hundred different handles that I might like to use, but Gumby is the one that I always use because I am so used to going by that.

Wish my handle had that kind of creativity behind it, but it really doesn't. I just was talking to Stone one day at work, and we was going thru some cool handles to use and I choose Bulletshell back when we use play regular DOD. When we got into DOD source I just kept the handle.
