mmk, good to know, I wouldn't have known; good catch guys. There's a lot of corpses these days. I found a trail of 4-5 bodies unlooted in the forest by balota airfield tonight and had I not known, I could have easily picked up a banned weapon if there was one on the bodies.

The m203 HE is a legit item, it is included in the loot table for the mod under 'military' zombie loot tables, which means that it can be found in any number of places since the various zombie loot tables have a chance of being included in unrelated loot piles. This list is maintained by a dev team approved community member and said dev team members link his work which means its scrutinized by the people writing the code for the mod.

Some of the stuff in there has been lost one way or another (I died but managed to recover my body yesterday) mostly due to glitchy inventory mechanics -_-. The most depressing loss was every single one of my M1911 mags.

welp... this cinches my decision then. No DayZ for me. I was going to buy ARMA2 when I got home too. :/ I got enough to worry about without accidentally looting hacked shit and getting a ban. DayZ can take a hike until they figure out how to stop the hacking entirely.

They've alluded to Rogue Server admins as the culprits. Which is why it is SO CRUCIAL that you choose your server WIsely. the Dallas Servers 20-28 are pretty well maintained.

Also Its still in Alpha tests, so............ You're signing up to be a tester.

It's not that bad of a threat. Once you learn what all the weapons in-game really are (and hanging on TS with TPG players you'll learn fast) it's very easy to discern what is and is not supposed to be in the game. I haven't encountered any so far and I'm confident the vast majority of us never will.

Besides, you only have to worry about finding them on player corpses.
